  1. They didn’t hold back about the consequences in the Japanese version. There, Odion said that because of the good Bakura's weak will and injury, the shock of Slifer's attack would have killed him.

Honestly, I think the dark Bakura made the right choice switching back. I honestly believe that even though Yugi wouldn’t forgive himself for it, in the end he would’ve attacked the vulnerable Bakura in order to save the world.

  2. Yeah. They messed up in this version without showing Ryo Bakura and only using his character when it was relevant to the plot, which is mostly when he is possessed by the Evil Spirit. So yes, as an anime only fan you don't have any connection or care for his character..

    Spoilerishy section:

In the manga there's more of real Bakura interacting with the group so moments like this here actually work. Because he is a friend and not jusr an acquaintance.

In the season 0 version of the anime, they introduced him before the first appearance of the Evil Spirit, so that he was someone that you as a viewer knew when the whole turning into a game character debacle happened. (In that regard I give Season 0 props over the manga, there Bakura and everything are introduced on the same chapter).

The manga also has the Evil Spirit being more cunning, strategic and manipulative. Playing with various characters for his benefit. Like he plays with Bakuras own fears to get basically to use his body whenever. He plays with Yugis trusting good nature to manipulate him. He does various things to use people as moving pieces. For example the confrontation with America F yeah, in the manga he doesnt pretend to be Bakura. ( Also that fight is against Duke, whatever same idea). There the Evil Spirit outright reveals that he is not Bakura and goes all motivational speech to encourage Yugi to win the duel. Which, yes in plant a seed of doubt on Yugis mind regarding his nature

  3. Love this episode. Slifer's summon was badass. I can kinda agree with you on how we have hardly seen normal Bakura, but it's okay, he's just a friend that gets dragged along by a dark spirit using him to try to take over the world. Good Bakura is just a victim the entire show so you gotta feel a bit bad for him. And when the spirit said we would see him again, oh you better believe we will. He's playing the long game, he will never be gone. Also at the end there, Tea wasn't possessed by two people, that evil laugh was just Marik. He's holding onto the ring. (Though I can't remember why)
