The first ending was supposed to have different text, beyond just "So I answered it". That was definitely a bug.

from 30:55 to 31:03 you can really feel how immersed he is in the game, down to the real annoyance of someone interupting you in the middle of interior decorating
The “this can’t be happening” joke always makes me laugh lol

I have a theory that the woman who greets you at the door was the wife of the man in the tapes.
Reason 1: when she tells you were she lives she first says her husband and her before she changes it to just her. Suggesting that her husband is gone
Reason 2: the MC says she looks familiar. Maybe he recognizes her from the first tape with the previous family
Reason 3: she says that she's knows the house inside and out meaning she's either lived there or been inside for a significant amount of time
It might be a bit of a stretch but I don't believe a game this well written would put in a random character that doesn't add anything significant to the story
