Your Next Great SHMUP? | Wings of Bluestar (Nintendo Switch) Review

In this indie game review we are taking a look at Wings of Bluestar on the Nintendo Switch. A traditional side-scrolling SHMUP which has you defending humanity from a malevolent AI as one of two skilled pilots!

Blast off for a story-driven shoot’em up experience unlike any other! As mankind faces the remnants of a mysterious artificial intelligence, it’s up to trainee pilot Aya and veteran ace Zarak to investigate the resurgent threat against free space. Along the way, these defenders of peace will need to confront their past and learn more about themselves before they can uncover the truth of their enemies.

Combining elements of traditional side-scrolling arcade shoot’em ups with HD presentation, Wings of Bluestar is both familiar and modernized, accessible yet challenging. In addition to multiple ships, weapon upgrades and intense bullet hell gameplay, a deep narrative experience awaits with dialogue choices and multiple endings for both playable characters. To extend the experience even further, Wings of Bluestar features boss rush mode, training and a shop to unlock in-game rewards.

  2. I've met your channel thanks to a shoot'em'up and after that i will always trust you with these.
Which was? The amazing Project Starship X, of course.
If someone wants a new shoot'em'up, wait til tomorrow and pick up Graze Counter.

Btw, are you planning on reviewing Dragon Fury? It looks like garbage, but i cannot find anything on the internet. There's just 3 reviews since it launched on steam and i can't find any review anywhere else. Can you do it, please?

  3. Honestly, a Shmup needs a story line like a bull needs tits…
This looks pretty good, but it's gonna struggle against the likes of Sine Mora, which is regularly on sale for, like, a quid.
(If the Dev's are watching, I'm available for blurbs for the advert)

  4. This is the solo developer of Wings Of Bluestar, thanks a lot for reviewing the game. Glad that you liked the game so far.
PS: there is a dark and scan line modes in the screen options, they help tone down the background graphics.
