LOL! This just seems like living in "survival mode." Do people really want to live this? Always on the edge of being homeless?
Work at UPS? Ummmmmm BAd timing. UPS is ready to strike.
Do most casinos in Las Vegas have bike racks for people to park and lock up their bikes?
Thank you for taking the time and effort to lay out the ground work for many whom wonder how to go about your topic.
The best answer to this is don’t. If you are truly trying to be a professional player go to FL, TX, or even CA. The games are better and full of worse players than you’d find in LV. This person will be playing 2/5 or 5/10 tops. FL, TX and even CA are better options. There won’t be as many grinders playing professionally
Uber is a good side job for poker players too. Break even on your cars and bills. Keep your poker roll separated.
I'm not gonna tell you what your hobbies are lmfao
Practical advice on how a person starting out could actually make it playing poker assuming that person is a winning poker player and wouldn"t have to subsidize poker playing with other income. That is a pretty big assumption. For the most part playing poker is not a realistic career.
I would add that the bike should be an electric bike. Always wear a helmet.
FedEx was 1000 hours worked as a package handler you would get benefits. I forgot how long it usually took just working the preload shift ( 3:30am- 8:30am) Now with it being a 7 day operation probably wouldn't take nearly as long. When I started it was a 5 day operation. I earned my own benefits by 22 i was pretty proud of that.
So you can just go to Vegas and automatically have a job at UPS?
Nevada is the most expensive state to own a car.
Concerning your dividend plan; do you plan to buy some shares and hold them for dividends or do you play to rotate ownership through shares that pay in offsetting months? For example, ABT, MMM, and AFL all pay in different months in the quarter. It should be possible to purchase each before the current month's ex-date and then switch to the next months company before the next month's ex-date.
You can also have UPS send your paycheck directly to the casino. That way you don't have to play any poker.
One thing's for sure. If you're working the pre-load, and riding your bike around town, you're going to be in top-notch shape! I worked the Pre-load when I was like 19, and it was physically challenging even then! I wouldn't recommend anybody trying this lifestyle over 40.
Sahara area is a ghetto. If you don't have a car and walking around that area you are putting your life at risk
All that sounds good. But what about all the two outters the fish are going to catch to bust your ass? 😅
Except the monorail doesn't run 24/7 and the best games are late at night when it isn't running
wonder if he has a beard to save on razors? lol
Thanks for the info on what a lot of solid, part-time, single poker players around the country have thought about in wanting to move to Vegas. Especially the part-time work for health insurance. Although as a poker player, I'd prefer a noon shift so I could play at night with the drinking players. Luckily I have life-long health insurance from time served in the military, which would give me more part-time work options.
Although apartment managers renting to someone with only a part-time job seems improbable. They usually want your job income to be almost double of what your rent is. Maybe we would have to get a full-time job first to qualify for an apartment and then transition to part-time work. To save a bit more on an apartment, as a single guy, I'd get a utilities-included studio apartment for about 1k per month. And apply that savings toward the use-costs of a car because no car = not getting laid because it's a turn-off for women. It also keeps u cool in the heatwave Vegas summer months and keeps u safer in the streets at night.
I go to Vegas a few times a year and the poker tourists are still donating money.
Oh hey Mr "I'm sorry you can do this" I played 2 WSOP events this year, and got 9th in the inaugural BIGO event and started the final day as the chip-leader. Keep your nose to that poker grindstone genius.
car insurance is high in vegas i heard
Safety of where to live is a big factor —- would not want to live in that area in an apt that was ~$1000. I would put utilities, Wi-Fi and cell phone at $300+ monthly
Where is the health insurance series you mentioned at the end?
$6,000 for health insurance for a young healthy person???!!! Insane. Before ObamaCare, I paid $79/month for Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
Great information for those who want to pursue poker. Keep them coming Nomad
