For some reason killing him after killing the men hanging him lowers honor… but shooting the three men that are hanging him doesn't do anything… perfect logic.
Is this a random encounter? So Rockstar knew that we would kill the lawmen to get to Skinner and they made an actual animation for him squirming if you pointed a gun at him and still made the dialogue for the player choosing to hang him instead of shooting him?
Honor is misunderstood in this game. You gain or lose honor in the eyes of others rather than the act itself. John killed a few lawmen here just so he could pull the lever and it disgusted the people.
rdr2 aka liberal cowboy simulator would rather you kill a gang of white dudes rather than the native americans who were actually skinning people around that time period
