Mechanically, this looks like a flash game from the early 2000's.
Edit: Finished watching and I'm actually impressed by how this game continually manages to introduce new fuckups. As to whether or not it's salvageable, I think it's a Ship of Theseus question. Every single mechanic needs to be completely reworked, and if they do that, I'm not sure if it's even the same game anymore.
I played the demo for a few minutes and here's one more thing I don't think you mentioned: The air attack has a cooldown. If you short hop and attack, you can't immediately do it again. I died due to this and immediately alt-F4'd. I don't think I've ever seen a metroidvania, or any 2d action game do this before.
Not that I would ever want anyone to go through this kind of torture, but this is giving me Mighty Number 9 vibes. A full-length breakdown could be fascinating.
Looks nice but plays terrible huh.
Muramasa rebirth, Is that you???
The game sent you back because it was coded and developed by an incompetent person who never tried to make a game before and they didn't even give their Mom $10 to playtest it for an hour
