Today we’ll talk about the 50-year anniversary of Apollo’s blue marble, the Square Kilometre Array, talking to robots, the Yellowstone volcano, nanoparticles that help with carbon capture, a forest bubble – on Mars, a new method of spacecraft propulsion, tests for cancer, earthquake tracking from space, and of course, the telephone will ring.

  1. I gotta say I don't like the thumbnails at all. They look terrible. They're very busy, its like when someone tries to cram 3 pages of a resume into a single page. You should simplify it, clean it up, and make it look more catchy.

  2. The polar ice in the sim is way off. A sim to create an inaccurate picture from 100k miles away. Not impressive at all. A caotic system can't be accurately simulated. Tell them about chaos and why it matters.

  3. Dear Sabine, I enjoy watching your show before falling asleep along with such channels as JMG, Cool Worlds etc. However, every time Elon rings you, I immediately wake up from my half-slumber. Could you please make the ring around 6-7 db quieter? Sincerely yours,
Antonio Carlos Dueche (that’s not me$

  4. Mauna Loa has been erupting. Since that's where they take the CO2 readings, it's strange CO2 levels haven't shot up.
They'd already made Yellowstone magma chambers 11 Grand Canyons by volume. Now they've made it more?
They've found magma in the upper mantle is hotter than previously thought. So it wouldn't surprise me to find Yellowstone magma can squeeze through to Rainier and St Helens.
GOOD NEWS: There's a squishy or buffer rock layer off Seattle…which may give it some protection if Cascadia has a megathrust.

  5. Considering that if Yellowstone erupts it will take several million people with it… they won't tell us if it's going to BLOW… there wouldn't be anywhere to really go to

  6. Wow, I have something useful to add! 🎉

I’m a disabled US Veteran, and just yesterday, I had my blood drawn, for a new lung cancer screening test.

I’m one of the long-term human trial test bunnies.

If the test works, we’ll have a blood-based lung cancer screening test, in just a few years.

  7. PROGRESS: Soon all music and singing will be done electronically…no humans needed.
As it happens, expert ears can tell the difference between the slight but interesting flaws in Freddy Mercury's voice and, say, an autocue perfected…but boring…Michael Buble.
Phil Collins had an excellent voice…but even he somehow extends held notes longer than Pavarotti.
"Live" singing is usually anything but…even opera singers are miked for amplification, like the early Cecilia Bartoli.
Unless you heard him live, you couldn't really appreciate Mario Del Monaco.
