I'm very confused. Is the Microsoft policy of "creative freedom" fake? Why does toy for Bob need to be independent to be creative? Toy for Bob is actually the only thing I'm interested in from the ABK deal. Xbox should have bought Square Enix & Sega😮💨

FTC Sony will have a much harder time blocking ms next big purchase. Imagine when toys for bob tell the court how ms let them go whilst still supporting them, along with Nintendo once again supporting any ms buyouts and ms putting those 4 games on ps. I feel ms are building up for another big purchase and maybe this toys for bob news was arranged for this specific reason 🤷🏿♂️.

MS allowed Toys 4 Bob to go independent while retaining ownership of the IPs. Why? T4B is going to release some new Spyro and Crash games that will be multi plaform . MS doesnt want to deal with the console war BS. Its a smart move.

toys for bob will continue to work in partnership with Xbox, the spyro, crash bandicoot, etc. licenses continue to belong to Xbox, but yes they are free to work as they want. The Xbox method is much healthier than other groups who would have closed the studio or prevented them from becoming independent, which is what PlayStation or EA does for example.

Embracer Group needs to sell off all of the studios and IPs since they haven't done good by the customer side of dealings. As for Toys For Bob going independent isa good sign, but as long as they are still in good terms with Xbox then let's at the very least see a reboot of Banjo Kazooie, and a reboot of Skylanders with both Spyro and Crash.

I have a hard time understanding what benefit Microsoft gets out of this. After all they went through with the ABK acquisition, they're now discharging the assets (minus the IP) and a talented in-house team who has already shown great capability at resurrecting forgotten franchises. I can't help but think about how another former 1st-Party studio (Bungie) recently threw themselves into Camp Sony, when things got difficult or the cheque was big enough, so I'm very disappointed to see this. With ballooning costs, I don't see them managing to stay viable or independent for long.
Been wanting to ask this. I understand Xbox releasing exclusives on other consoles in order to generate more revenue and garner interest in the Xbox ecosystem. However, why not release demos instead? Just give them a taste. They could even charge a small fee to cover development costs of demos and even include trial game pass membership. Enjoy your perspective on all things gaming.
