Time was, you tuned in again, with each new episode, because the last one was a pleasant viewing experience, so you expect this one to be a pleasant viewing experience; not because the previous one planted a climactic seed that made you really badly want to know what happened next. It's terrible.

The original story the phoenix is a universal living energy that chose Jean as a vessel to stop a mad alien ruler from using a powerful crystal to destroy the universe.
Apocalypse is ancient early Egyptian but gained immortality using alien technology that crashed landed on earth centuries ago.
The woman with the energy blade like is Psyloke a mutant telepath that's British/ X-Men that was later kidnapped by ninja assassins and transferred her mind into a deadly female ninja assassin.
Havoc doesn't shoot energy from his chest it's through his hands…

There's a lot to like in this one, but there's a lot of "hmmm…" too. lol Oscar Isaac did what he could with the role, but they didn't remotely do Apocalypse justice. I think this movie is a mixed bag. I just enjoy the parts I enjoy and go with the rest.
The MCU needs this Quicksilver. Just saying.

It's not the greatest X-Men movie but it's certainly not the worst. I love Apocalypse. I proudly own this movie on Blu-ray and I watch it more often than any movie in the MCU

Did you know… James McAvoy starred as Paul Atreides in a Sci-Fy Channel series adaptation of Dune many years ago? It was actually pretty good. Not much next to the Villeneuve movies, but not bad for what they were.
