Bryant Cook plays Cycle Storm in a Pauper League on Magic: The Gathering Online! These matches were played on: 09/05/22
If you’re unfamiliar with Cycle Storm, it’s a deck that uses cycling creatures early to draw through your deck to find a Songs of the Damned and then cast some spells into a large Reaping the Graves! At this point, you cycle all of those creatures again and again. Repeat this process until your Songs of the Damned make a bunch of mana.
Now, you can cast Drannith Stingers! At this point, cycle more cards and win the game (even with creature removal on the stack!).
In today’s video, Bryant realizes how INSANE Writhing Necromass is out of the sideboard to beat Relic of Progenitus. This is the Dominaria United (DMU) upgrade we were waiting for!

At 1:16:47 you duress and take counter spell as opposed to dispel, is there a specific reason for taking the less mana intensive card in their hand? Was it strictly to protect from a later Drannith Stinger being countered?
With the addition of Necromass, does Burnt Offering deserve some consideration? You get ton of either red or black mana if you sacrifice Necromass for BO.

Hmm one thing about the initiative creatures they are not as good against cycle storm because they are used to play a value game and if you are playing cycle storm you're basically just saying I will not be playing this game.
Love the new beater in this deck. That plan can make the deck basically an agro deck post board which make the hate against the combo look silly.
Very interesting games, thank you for sharing. My estimation of the card has definitely gone up due to seeing it in action, particularly in the context of fae variants (maybe not mono U as I really consider them more of a blue burn deck). I look forward to testing when I've got some time.
My fear around the initiative cards is that there appears to be some scrutiny on dark ritual… :/
Thoughts on cutting/trimming Ploy? Healer seems to be filling the role of lifegain quite well, so Ploy looked clunky in most of these games. Great video as always!
Before Galvanic Relay was banned, I had a for real combo deck with serpentine curve. Even managed a T1 that was absolutely gross. Curve counts things in exile, so it counts all the relay hits. It was a pretty neat deck. I still run the grixis controlly version, but I miss my relay xD
Some players even play Necromass 4x in the maindeck, it's crazy good
I think I need to update my pauper decks.
What's your opinion on running Restless Dreams? It's a Sorcery for {B} that lets you pitch X cards to pick up X creatures from your graveyard. It's generally worse than Reaping, but it would let you pitch lands to pick up cycling creatures (in case you cycle into a bunch of lands mid-combo).
