  1. I am not an enjoyer of reactivation most of the time since cleaning up mistakes become more difficult than it needs to be. BUT this is something I might try 🙂
Hope Army Painter manages to make it so that the paint reactivates for a few hours and then cures properly so I can fix my mistakes.

  2. This is going to seem more antagonistic than I really want it to but I don't mean it to be.

If using speed paint as a one coat and done to speed paint is incorrect and using it to take more time and wet blend with it is right then army painter should change the name and marketing.

  3. It makes me wonder if Army Painter could create a medium that could be added to their non-reactivating speedpaints to add the re-activation feature to them after the fact. You know, similar to how other companies sell separate, non-pigmented flow aides or contrast medium to work with regular acrylics.

  4. Just to be fully transparent with ya'll:

I was paid a one time fee by army painter to consult on this paint line! They have not paid me to make ANY videos on speedpaints, and I do not work for them currently or get royalties or anything like that! I thought this was pretty clear in the video and I've said it in multiple other videos but wanted to reinforce this here to reply to some of the comments en masse.

I made this video on how to work "with" reactivation to do blending because it was one of my most demanded topics in the comments section of other videos, and I haven't seen anyone else do a tutorial on this yet.

Also I'm sorry about the clickbait title (I got too greedy for the views!!!) I went ahead and changed it to make it more accurate!

  5. I really think the issue was blown way out of proportion, and it really does seem far more interesting to play with layering and blending.
Also those are cool models that I currently don't have room for ough

  6. Agree about this being a feature and not a bug! There were some loud creators who boo-hooed it and I've never had an issue with it. But when I do make a mistake or need to change something the reactivation comes in handy. Honestly, really love my paints.

  7. After seeing how people complain about "reactivation" on social media I've come to the conclusion that the issue with it is because its different than other paints and these differences are perceived as a "flaw". For all of their talent and ability it seems, for some, if a paint doesn't behave 100% like every other miniature paint on the market its a bad product. It goes against their expectations and as such its flawed. I've seen the same arguments against the use of heavy body acrylics and oil paints because they're "not for miniatures". Recently I saw an individual argue, quite passionately, that Scale 75 artists colors aren't meant for miniatures because the come in a tube.

  8. Really dissapointed by the direction your channel has taken regarding Army Painter, I am sorry to lose you but I am unsubbing. Marking something up as a "feature" within something when it very obviously was a problem, something you even eluded to you in your last advert when you said that it was a side effect of one of the ingredients, is just misleading and shill like.

Sorry, You're done in my book

  9. Maybe it's just because I've mostly used them on FDM printed models so far, so the layer lines increase surface area and speed drying time, but I haven't really had a problem with re-activation re: SpeedPaint so far. I think I had one model where it was a bit of a problem, but I was able to correct it, and it was one of the first times I'd used SpeedPaint so I didn't know it has a longer cure time. Honestly, I've gotten some decent simple blends out of it so far.

  10. I also see the reactivation as a benefit. For actual speedpainting it really makes it easy to get a decent blend of colour. Underpaint/zenithal white, speedpaint a midtone and then reactivate to blend in the highlight.
