An interesting challenge you can do on Cold War is using the crystals only on Die Maschine. When you shoot the crystals, it'll spawn a weapon, level 1 armor, ammo, lethals/tacticals, perks, or even the ray gun. I don't think the crystals drop ammo mods, so the only ammo mods you can use is deadwire or napalm burst. You can't obtain perks by any other means (Der Wunderfizz, trials, coffin dance EE). You can't upgrade armor to level 2/3 at the arsenal. Spawn in with the 1911 and use it till you get a weapon from the crystals.
