Just wanted to rant once more about recent gaming discourse that has been surrounding some upcoming games. I think the current AAA gaming atmosphere has a lot to be critiqued upon, but for some reason i’m seeing TOO many people coming to the conclusion that it’s because of “forced diversity” “dei” “woke”. It makes me sick and puzzled. Mfs in my ear saying Concord failed cuz it was forced diversity when it would’ve shut down FASTER if every single class of character was just some white dude 😂yall funny man. AC Shadows as cool as it looks will probably be of the same quality as the past couple of AC games (whether you think that be a good thing or not), yet will be criticized FAR more heavily upon release because of Yasuke and Naoe. Even though Ubisoft’s output as of late doesn’t exactly warrant the highest of expectations(as hype as I am for that game), but I digress. Anyways, I apologize for my lack of uploads, got a really big video on the way for yall. If you’ve read this far into this paragraph, thank you for your time.

Forced diversity is not real. If you see a minority and you get upset, that's a YOU problem, not the game's fault.

I'll say this about AC , i've been saying these game have gotten less historically accurate since Odyssey , Shadows is like nothing compared to the previous games in terms of historical inaccuracy , so far its only showing yasuke to be a samurai which is not even something historians say is wrong or right but people just love to bring this up when talking about shadows , Not that its being made by ubislop the studio that has made the most mid games recently
Also why is it when people always talk about how good diversity is , They only say "Black and asian representation" and a side of LGBTQ , What about Middle easternes? Africans? other parts of Asia that isn't China or japan? Do these places not exist? Does the diversity in these pieces of media suck ass so hard they can only do 3 groups of people? the main problem people have with "woke" aspects is that at times it seems to be the focal point for these "woke" games, it done ham-fistedly, Most people don't have problem playing as a character that's of a different ethnicity or gender the problem arise when that becomes shoved in the players faces and becomes a "hah look We are going against the norms, take that bigot" there is no problem with games that address social injustices and complex issues but does every AAA game have to be that way? Lets face it being able to spend time thinking about social injustices and complex issues is a luxury most people don't have, The common man just wants to play his game and not have to think about any of these problems

All i know is that "over representation" and "forced diversity" just means, not enough white guys for me to project onto. Even if the story is set in ancient china, or ancient egypt, or pre-colombian americas, or anywhere that isn't europe and historically wouldn't have had a white person there.
There were at least a few "black" (black in quotes because they were african, blackness wouldn't have existed as a concept yet but that's a nitpick) people in historical periods of japan, quite a few with high ranking roles, but i guess a black samurai is more unbelievable than that meme image of that white pharaoh guy.
Nobody actually cares about historical accuracy, from the clothing or the people or the language spoken or the beauty standards that would've been drastically different from ours currently, they just dont like black people. Middle eastern people, latinos, africans, asians if they aren't a weirdo racist that fetishizes every single thing asian people do. As if asian people are their next best expy…so long as they aren't the "evil chinese", of course.
And on the differing beauty standards part for historical accuracy, i know these weirdos would lose their minds at characters (specifically female ones) looking as they were expected to of the time period. If some time period and culture saw sloped foreheads as a symbol of beauty, or blackened lips where the ink gets bigger and wider as the girl gets older, or having a wide waist for easier pregnancy, full shoulders, bobs, etc…they would go insane.
Really, any game that came out before "woke" was bastardized as a term would count as woke today. But because they've idolized those games and shows and movies in their head as the epitome of culture or creation, they'll never be able to look back on it with the same tainted view they have now. They'll either justify the older game as "having done it better" which is rarely the case, or completely pretend it doesn't exist, pretend that some character alluded to being trans but not directly stated due to the debatably worse view of trans people back whenever isn't trans. Or that creators are static and unchanging, only ever "changing" when the scary woke mob barges into their house at night and demands they add a gay option.
Most of their insanity definitely stems from nostalgia and the expected lack of understanding a child typically would have when watching something.
And that lack of understanding wouldn't be so bad if they didn't prop up everything they ever saw or played as a child as flawless through their memories, if they ever just took the time to revisit things they enjoyed and actually tried to see what made it so good. Here's a rather generous perspective: they so desperately want to feel the way they did as children, but they don't know how to do that without being bitter. They attribute badness to anything they don't understand or are afraid of, and often use poor quality apparently seen in a lot of modern games as a good enough scapegoat for their anger. And if using words like "dei" and "woke mob" makes them feel like they have something in the shadow of a community, then they're going to cling to that as desperately as they can just to feel an ounce of their childhood joy that sadly and ironically they take away from themselves.
