  1. Easy to say let Nylander go, but he is the only one who actually creates his own shot. Marner creates but he doesn’t shoot. The other two guys can shoot but not create. If you are going to be pissed if Nylander gets a $10 million contract, put yourself in his shoes, you know 34 is getting at least $13 if not $14 million, if not more. Let’s remember that he was the only guy who tried to win game 5 against Florida.

  2. Cant let Willy go, no fkn way. Gotta lock up Auston by the start of the season or hes gonzo, gonna be an interesting off-season. Buy out Brodie and trade some picks for someone to take Murray.

  3. People are making this way too compilated. Matthews and Nylander want reasonable numbers for reasonable terms or they don't. If they do sign them. If they don't, trade them for players who want to win a cup in Toronto.

  4. Another team in Toronto would not do well. The second team will never usurp an original 6 team. Just look at the Rangers. How much are the Devils and Islanders worth in comparison. Hamilton should have happened instead of Ottawa. Compensation would have been cheap back then and Tim Hortons would have been corporate owners instead of Melnyk. The problem with hockey is it realis on gate revenues where other pro leagues get big tv contracts. No big contracts coming in the US for hockey. Cap is not going up anytime soon. As there is no competition in Canada for tv rights do you think Rogers are going to pay more next time. Hockey has been a big loss for Rogers. Hockey was a staple for us growing up but very few 20-40 even care about hockey never mind watch it. Hockey is on a downward spiral as the young people can not afford to go to a game never mind pay to watch it on tv which used to be free. In Canada no one has won in 30 years so even the hardcore followers are not following hockey closely anymore. They are just watching the replays.

  5. If I were Brad Treliving I would get the core 4 signed, RO'R, Noel Acciari, Luke Schenn signed, then I would trade Holl, Kerfoot for potential defenceman, forward and Matt Murray for a potential goaltender.

  6. You all hate on the leafs..they beat Tampa in the first round..lost to a team of Destiny who beat #1 Boston #2 Carolina and #4 Toronto..but you all hate on them…i bet the Boston and Carolina fans don't hate on their teams…i was taught along time ago if you got nothing good to say. ..keep it to yourself..its just a sport..i was born in 1965 so I've seen alot of down with the leafs..they got over the 1st rnd hump..and they will keep improving..they will win the cup with group..GLG

  7. Jason Bourne is an idiot! You want players t play in the playoffs and he belittles Nylander? How is Mathews worth $13.5 and Nylander not worth $10??? Both 40 goal scores and Nylander didn't have a centre!!!

  8. Its wild how ignorant to how thin this team is. Its held up by toothpicks, imagine Mathews and nylander walk with no returned assets. They have no draft picks, no prospects of note, old players and hardly any mid level plaayers on any long years. Folks dont seem to see its time to rebuild, the window is passed, dubas put alll the eggs in past years baskets.

  9. You guys from Toronto make me laugh really hard,,, Johanson at 4 million for absolutely nothing is questionable, but the Leafs who beat TB let’s be honest cause they had only one of their top 4 actually healthy and then got crushed by Florida that’s a real contender? the Avs have the D and G you wish you had,,, let’s be honest since Sakic has been in place with this team how many bad trades has he made? just last year he got a #1 goalie for 2 third round picks, not a finished Murray and that’s just 1 trade!,,, PS my guess for Mathews is he will jack the Leafs again 75 million/ 5 years

  10. I dont understand why people disrespect nylander…guys been a clutch player scores big goals at key times ..playoffs hes a gamer …hes got skill hes got speed …hes a high end winger that can play center if needed …man in my opinion hes more of an asset than marner in terms of "Who would you have on your team to win a championship ( key word) championships?

  11. Shorter contract for Nylander as Bourne doesn't trust his heart …. even though he consistently steps up in the playoffs, unlike Mitch and Auston who disappear when the chips are down. Let me tell you if you need a goal desperately in the playoffs Willy is the man!

  12. Karlsson is a beast and a gamebreaker – sure to put Leafs in true contention in the playoffs. The rest of the D are Rielly and duct tape, trust me. You need to give a lot to get him.

  13. The cap is set to go up 4 million next year then up to like 92.5 million in 2025-2026. Btw a 2nd team in Toronto would work but only if that team wins right away and steals all of the leafs fan thus destroying the leafs.

  14. If you guys really think that the Montréal Canadiens have the same timeline to make the playoffs as the Chicago Blackhawks you are the delusional maple leafs fans that everyone thinks you are.

  15. HOLY S#!^ Kyper just said what I've been saying for years… 100% splitting the ownership of the Leafs into two Toronto teams is and always was the long term game plan for the marriage between Rogers and Bell.

  16. Leafs should keep Woll, trade away the other two goalies and go after the jets goalie Connor Hellebuych. Woll is experienced as a backup goalie and could continue or maybe share rotation with Hellebuych. Send Murry to Pittsburgh maybe if Dubas was interested in resigning him. But would like to see a trade where in return we get two very good defensive players.
