There seems to be three main types of terrorist groups (two are related). First there’s terrorism that comes from a state sponsored paramilitary group such as one from Russia interfering in a civil war in Africa. Secondly and most likely the best known is from extremists of a religious group such as Hamas that gets its support from another country (Iran). Lastly as my limited knowledge sees is a religious group that wants to establish itself as the ruler of another country or region such as the Islamic State. Just my thoughts 💭 but stopping countries like Russia and Iran from funding their types of terrorists are very dangerous but different than say the Islamic State and must be dealt with differently

no you can't defeat an idea. The only way to supress it is to make the people happe or at least satisfied. Then satisfied people will not commit terror or other things of this kind. So helping with peace, food, freedom, stability etc. and in this way take the token away from these villain groups, so it is way more difficult to recruit new soldiers for their bad ideas.
It probably won’t end as it is not in the interest of the west nor the east for it to end. Maybe if Christendom calls a crusade on all of Islam then maybe we’d have one last big hurrah before it all puffs out, but as long as one side tries to reason with the other it will always fail, we need madness to defeat madness.
At this point the USA, and every other country on the planet for that matter, might need a dedicated Counter-Insurgency branch for their militaries that’s on par with their Armies and Navies and Air Forces and whatever else. Even with the rise of nation vs nation conflicts since the end of the initial COVID-19 pandemic, insurgents have remained the a more common and widespread threat to most nations across the planet.
