  2. I'm in the same "not sure when he'll be ridden again" boat with my thoroughbred. He had the horse equivalent of a mental breakdown and went from somewhat green but happy thoroughbred to "don't go in the pasture, he'll attack you" horse. Confused all my vets, still does. We managed to calm him down to be worked with and now he's much safer on the ground but we still can't sit on him…

Found a new thing to try, hopefully this is the breakthrough we need

  6. My mare had a very bad injury last year. I was at a horse show and I took her out of her stable and she was very lame. We immediately called the vet and took her back home. We were very worried and didn’t think I could ever be able to ride her again. After lost of rehab (which sounds very similar to what Joey is doing rn) This year she is back to normal and I have my first show next week! I am saying this to give you hope, if everything goes the way it should, I’m sure you will be able to ride him again!

  8. My mare is only 4 and had a tendon injury straight after I bought her. Had stem cell surgery/therapy and was still very lame for a few months after, even on bute. We are around 6 months in and luckily being a mare I could put her in foal, as the vet said it would be good to give her 18 months rest/rehab before starting any work, and the length of time it takes to grow and wean the foal would be a great way to ensure we don’t rush the process, and we get something out of it at the end.
Best of luck with Joey ❤

  9. Sounds like he is making great progress! Staying positive is important!
One of my horses just had surgery to remove a growth on her fetlock. She has to be in stall rest for 3 weeks. It’s day 5 and she is not loving it unfortunately.
I am keeping Joey in positive thoughts and wish him well!
