Will God Strike You Down for Lying?

Can God can strike you down for lying? While God can do whatever He wants, I think that it’s unlikely He would do so for a lie. However, we should still have a healthy fear and reverence for God, recognizing His power and authority over all things.

  1. My understanding is that God can do anything, but that he doesn't ever do anything outside of what He has set up in His Word. Some say He cannot do anything outside of His Word.

And yes, you may not get struck down, but sin always has consequences. But he does not punish us. Jesus took our punishment for us.

  2. Pet peeve: it was Peter that struck them down. His choice, his power as granted by Jesus ("what you bind…"). A better, more faithful, and more exciting reading than the typical "God does everything and we stand by and watch" takes.

  3. From: Problems with the NKJV.
Jesus is demoted [compare to the KJB]:
    Genesis 22:8, Matthew 18:26, 20:20, John 8:35. Acts 3:13, 26, Acts 4:27, 30.
It deletes important words: Lord 66x's, JEHOVAH, entirely, blood !!!, 23 x's,
damnation, entirely, hell 22 x's, heaven 50 x's, repent 44x's, new testament, entirely.
    Plus more!
Also see What's Wrong with the NKJV. Also: I have shelved my NKJV, Maybe You Should To.

  4. That is arrogant to say God can do whatever he wants. For one thing God isn't like that and when he does or says something it is far a perfect reason.
A certain man a jew who promised to give a portion of land and lied was struck down by the holy ghost was not born again
You make out you are a big brain.
If ananias was a spirit filled believer? Born again? How could God our loving father kill him? God swore an never to harm us or leave us and has forgiven all our sin?. This is to make God a liar?
God doesn't have the pride of man unlike ourselves. Jesus became all our sin on the cross and God separated himself from Jesus and poured out all his wrath on Jesus for our sin then he kills a son of God his child for lying?❤Shalom
