  1. Flamenco is a tribute to the Mexican and Spanish influence of the cowboy culture. But when you pay attention to the words, it’s really about her white fan base. Beyoncé has always enjoyed success from ppl of all stripes. Until she started speaking on social issues and her white audience abandoned her. Just for speaking up for her ppl. When she says day ones, she’s talking about everyone in her camp who told her that once she starts speaking about certain things, the white audience will leave her. It’s a constant we experience in America. We can appease them by being inclusive but if we speak specifically to who we are as black ppl, it gets push back as if nothing about us matters unless we are entertaining them. And when Lemonade happened and the country music fans attacked her and didn’t welcome her to their award show, she decided she had to do this project to inform ppl that we as black ppl are rooted in this genre like most things certain ppl try to keep us out of.

  2. I have been looking forward to your review of this album! I can’t wait for you to delve into it a little deeper. There are so many layers to this album and it’s so historical and intentional. The album on its on is wonderful but when you add the intentionality and history it becomes so important. I really enjoyed your reaction and look forward to more. Thanks!

  3. Regarding Jolene, Beyonce changed the perspective of the song as well as some of the words. Dolly Parton's original version is her pleading with Jolene to please don't take her man. Beyonce's version of Jolene is her warning Jolene to stay away from her man or else suffer the consequences. Beyonce also reiterates in her version that she knows that her man is going to stand by her, so shes giving a little reverse Tammy Wynette Vibes on that verse. Great reaction by the way.

  4. 2:15:53 tyrant is about sundown towns hide your man when the hangman comes because they killed black men and hanged then one by one. So she’s asking how they can they kill people and live with themselves

2:25:36 buckin is a dance in the black community not an aggressive thing

  5. Everything has 2 I’s because it’s ACT II of her 3 part album series

I wished y’all had touched on the historical context of Blackbird, it was written about black women during the civil rights movement.

The 16 carriages are believed to her 16 years of life (because maybe she was 15 but almost 16) or could be representative of 16 tour trucks

PROTECTOR is such a beautiful song. Like it doesn’t get enough credit 😭

MY ROSE is dedicated to her son, SIR

Dolly’s version of JOLENE was like her pleading with Jolene and begging her not to take her man. Beyonce flipped the whole song and made it a threat to try to take her man, and then made it happy at the end. Some people were a bit upset, but Dolly’s version didn’t fit Beyonce!

DAUGHTER is allegedly about Beyonce dreaming / making up a story about she would do to “Becky” lol. Caro mio ben (the opera section) is about loving someone so bad and if they leave it’d physically and emotionally hurt.

Linda Martell was the first commercially successful black country artist also the first black artist to play at the Grand Olpry

ALLIIGATOR TEARS is essentially about how a man will cry alligator tears in order to get his woman to do something for him, and Beyoncé knows this but does these things for him anyway because she adores him

JUST FOR FUN, if you let it, it’ll just envelope you in depth

  6. I think she’s being sarcastic and she willing to do and change anything for him but his tears are sincere. So even tho she knows that she continues loving him and at the end of the day she’s just how does it feel to be so adored.

  7. Deep thing about Spaghetti. When Beyonce was in Girls Tyme before Destiny's Child, the group went onto star search as a Hip Hop rapping and singing group and lost against a white male rock band. Though they lost to something that was more traditional to the show, they still stood out and made a difference and then used that loss as motivation to work even harder and achieve what all they have. A defining moment in Beyonce's life, but also shaped her artistry of breaking down barriers in an impactful way.

  8. She started writing this album in 2016 so I think Alligator tears is about her husband. On paper she should probably leave him for the things he's done, but she cant…..her love is deep and unconditional. Im sure it was tough on her to stay in her marriage after the cheating, Lemonade's release, public backlash, people giving her looks, ect.

If you think about part of this album being written right after Lemonade….you see the healing process with her family.

Also this album was originally supposed to come out before Renessance…..last song of this album blends into Im That Girl on Renissance.

  9. the lore of this album runs so deep it’ll be studied in universities for years just like self-titled, lemonade and renaissance have been.

the concept of a woman’s drunken night spent listening to a radio station is SO well executed. she goes from lamenting about america’s horrid past, to reminiscing on her childhood, to struggling as a parent, to imagining her mother’s heartache and seeking revenge, to getting high and experiencing a bad trip, to falling in love and losing it then finding it again, imagining herself in a movie, coming down, picking herself up and leaving the bar.

all of this executed while also paying homage to americana/folk and country’s black roots, weaving together interpolations and samples from a whole host of other collaborators.

she really is a master of her craft AND a student of the past, always paying homage to those who came before her in order to push culture and art FORWARD.

34 years in this business and she ain’t slowing down yet. a LEGEND.

many laymans will continue to appear foolish due to their lack of comprehension regarding this album and indeed her career as a whole.

  10. The last hour was pretty brutal. If losing interest was a person (or 2 people). 😆 It's more country inspired/influenced, than country country. Clearly not for everyone…I guess, but I loved it! It's a grower too. Gets better and better the more you listen. Good job hanging in there tho.

  11. This album was created first and meant to come out first but she changed her mind and released Renaissance first because of the pandemic and wanting everyone to have a space to dance and just be free. That’s why this album sounds so different at the end. It’s meant to flow right into Renaissance which its does seamlessly.

  12. there are NO music videos. after releasing three incredible fully visual albums (Beyoncé, Lemonade, Black is King), Beyoncé has decided to deprive her hungry starving dehydrated fans of the visuals we have been demanding since she put out the I’M THAT GIRL teaser trailer in 2022. if we get the videos, it likely won’t be until the trilogy is complete.

  13. Aw! I love the Kitty break! So adorable! My kitties(Oreo and Luna) said hi! 😻😺

I'll probably edit this comment later. I'm enjoying the commentary/review. 😅

The reaction was entertaining. You two should react to more Beyonce albums. Though from a black woman's POV encouraging to vote is very important. You may not have someone to vote for but not everybody have that privilege. I'm definitely voting again this November. I encourage early voting. It worked the last time! ❤️

  14. Congratulations Queen!!!❤ Slay and share that history and legacy of your people. Set the bar, those who get it, got it. Let those other self-centered artists ride your wave and chase their stars.😊
