Wichita Rescue 1 Ride Along

To kick off my YouTube channel I called my friends at Wichita, Kansas Fire Department and set up a couple ride alongs. The first was a 24-hour shift with Rescue Company 1 on the southeast side of the city. We responded to more calls than I could include in this video, which gives you a behind the scenes look at life inside the WFD.

  1. I'm thinking of how long it takes to pass and receive the truck equipment between shifts. We're here checking just one engine's equipment for at least 15 minutes.

  2. My dad was a retired ff in Wichita. After he passed I got his badge tattooed on my right shoulder so he is still looking out for me! He's got my back permanently now lol

  3. Well from what I've known for being a firefighter for just a little bit over two years is that a called can come out at any time there is no time to prepare yourself for because I could be 10 in the morning or it can be midnight or 6 in the afternoon or there could be no call at all it's just what it is

  4. If someone on the job stateside could answer a question for me: What’s the rationale/reasoning for apparatus to run emergency lights while returning to quarters after a call? Noticed it seems to be quite common for departments in the US.
