  1. I still think the thing was scared of the humans. Despite its capabilities it was making a space fairing ship, I highly doubt trying to get to a populated area but to leave earth entirely. I think it understood that once the human race understood what it was dealing with we would simply glass our entire planet. If something like that would I am in full support of glassing ourselves to oblivion just to do the middle finger at the xeno scum.

  2. Anime- “I want to become one with you.” “Sweet”
The Thing- “I want to become one with you.” “No, no, no. Wait, wait, wait!”

  3. Let's not forget a thing could most likely imitate plants so even a colony of things could imitate a field of grass and infect anything that walks in it not to mention if they decide to mimic mushroom spores and go airborn

  4. Hey Zach you may or may not remember me but I used to have the gamertag Confederate Rep on Xbox and I used to play with you often. You had me join the 24 hr 10 year anniversary stream for lfd and it was a blast. I recently just found my way back to the channel and was wondering if you ever wanted to play again sometime 🙂

  5. Charles wasn’t the thing Mcready was. McCready had the bottle the entire movie the bottle is the one fucking everyone up. McCready hand, the bottle to Benning after Benning had got licked by the dog thing, and then preceded to grab the bottle, McCready gave him and drink fromit that very same bottle McCready is drinking from later which makes him the thing then he proceeds to give the bottle to Blair. When Blair is in his shack, he drinks Blair vodka, and then gives it to him, which makes Blair the thing at the very end of the movie. He gives Charles the bottle. John Carpenter said that it only takes a small amount of this thing to get in contact with you for you just to become the thing it’s simple as exchanging saliva. I also come to the theory that the thing is not a hive mind. It seeks to protect itself all of its individual parts, as if it was its own individual. It even seems to take on the characteristics of said host gifts, things of that nature McCready was a chess player and the moment he got McCready started playing chess with the entire camp, and it ended up winning. Now, John Carpenter made this movie to have no definitive ending. It’s all speculation who the thing is at all times and he doesn’t give you a definitive answer which is the best part of the movie.

  6. The only way mankind could potentially survive is if it was like a Star Trek/Star wars type future where non infected people could escape earth. Even that would have extreme room for failure but to depart the earth and then nuke it would really be the only way to save some of mankind and animals. The fact that the sea wouldn't even keep it from getting to other land means you'd have to work fast and efficiently to evacuate non-infected beings only.

  8. I might have missed it but I didn’t hear you mention that The Thing can expand and contract its cells. That’s why the Norris Thing erupting from his belly was much bigger than it logically could have been based on Norris’ mass.
