Why We're Trying To Colonize Space

This docu-series covers all three of Earth’s next landing options – Asteroids, the Moon and Mars. The programmes explore the scientific reasons for and against each celestial body’s case to be the next that humans might colonise. They explore the technical and logistical problems and benefits of each – EG temperature at night and day, ability or inability to harness solar power and more.

  1. Why? The reason is because humans are a virus, and when a virus depletes the resources of the entity it is invading, it leaves and searches for a new host. Humans used to live on Mars, and look at what we did to that planet. Earth is next!

  2. First of all, no disrespect to the people that have all they quote" opinions be they cynical or whatever. I'm just interested in the science part of it but right now I'm 70 years old. Don't have much time left for a bunch of negative stuff. Carry on😊

  3. No disrespect from what I have read and been told about climate change. Climate change has been going on since the beginning of time that has got warmer and colder millions of years ago. Not saying that the impurities that we releasing to the air does not have an effect but it's been going on a long time. So it's time it's going to change regardless ice age then it warms up blah blah blah blah blah. This is my position on it. Somebody help me out there.

  4. Actually either temp is actually much colder thn it was thousands of years ago , climate change is actually a natural cycle of the earth and the sun , not humans , thou as humans we are polluting our planet but temp is not a result

  5. If any Alien civilization advanced enough to travel the cosmos would be smart to destroy all Humans before Humans can catch up to them and destroy them like they destroy each other.

  6. If you think you have little privacy now. . imagine living on one of these space colonies you would be watched, monitored & told what to do every minute of every day & night. that’s no life ! I couldn’t think of anything worse

  7. the only way we can colonize another planet is to evolve AI enough to have robots give birth to human embryo's in the destination planet so they can grow from birth to be adapted to the atmosphere and gravity of the destination. they will have to be genetically altered to be able to survive. it will happen. just a matter of time. unless we get hit by a rock before that happens. probability of our long term survival is less than 1% (edit: Oumuamua was most likely a probe sent by a distant civilazation to determine candidates for terraforming in this manner, and it changed direction and left our solar system because it determined the chances of survival on our planet were less than optimal.)

  8. doesnt anyone get it yet? the planet will survive. humans, probably not. we have engineered our own demise. good luck with wishful thinking, thoughts and prayers and trying to live on mars.
there are powerful forces here on earth that will not stop until every drop of oil and gas is burned up and dont give a hoot about future generations in fact the blinders they wear and rhetoric they believe prevent them to even see the danger to even thier own offspring

  9. The most likely candidate for the colonization of another moon or planet when viewed in the context of doable now with the highest likelihood of long-term success with minimal negative effects on us would actually be in the Clouds of Venus….
(Which sounds quite dreamy doesn't it?)
