Why Vader Never Acknowledges Anyone From his Past

In Tales of the Empire one of the main complaints is that Darth Vader never acknowledges that he knows Bariss Offee. The two have a very complicated history thanks to Bariss’ role in the Jedi Temple bombings. We take a look at why Vader generally doesn’t acknowledge people from his past life when he was a jedi for the republic.

  1. Dang it, Alan, you bring up the best topics. Like how chronic pain is extremely difficult to live with day after day. Love your videos so much! Hope your family is doing great.

  2. There should have been some training footage of Vader with the inquisitors.
Taking some limbs to assert dominance, Vader inflicting some pain on Bariss for his own pleasure or whatever. There didn't need to be an explicit acknowledgment, he could have made an example out of her just out of spite. There could have been a minor flashback of anakin force grabbing her in the clonewars episode like at 3:14 at the same time to "mirror" the actions together, so Bariss gets a suspicion, but explicit acknowledgment would have been a mistake.
That's what this Tales of the Empire show was… underwhelming and lots of untapped potential.

  3. Pretty sure if Vader could take his boots off and walk through a beach the sand getting stuck between his robotic toes/legs would probably just irritate and piss him off more than anything else in the galaxy. To be serious though if Vader didn't isolate the Anakin section of his personality he'd of driven himself mad with guilt, pain, and self-loathing as the person Vader hates more than anyone in the galaxy is himself.

  4. I really has to get this off my chest. Even when I saw it as a kid and still today I think that it looks too ridicolous when Vader lifts the emperor up from behind and throws him down the pit like a stuffed duck. In every other incidence Palpatene is cunning and thinks three steps ahead but there he is like a helpless old man that can be defeated fairly easy. Don't get me wrong, I love return of the Jedi, but couldn't we make it a little bit more epic when Vader overcomes the emperor? Sorry, I know that's not the main point of this video but I was triggered when i saw this scene here 😀

  5. What's up with Vader's helmet? Was that a custom job, or were they mass produced? I mean, how many times did he get his helmet busted open only to show up again the next day with the EXACT same helmet on. There's no way he's getting the same one repaired over and over again. If it was, there would have been clear signs, like with Kylo Ren's, or the night troopers'. Why not make an upgrade or two while you're at it? Plus, how would you even repair circuits and machinary that's been cut through with a lightsaber? You wouldn't. You'd just throw it away and get another one. So there must have been a bunch of them. But if that was the case, how come we've never seen someone else wearing one? Did he call dibs on that one particular design? You'd think if he was replacing them ever so often anyway he might want to try out a new style once in a while. But, no, only ever the same one …

  6. I don't understand all of the hype about barris .
She was one year younger than Anakin , and she was raised in the jedi temple.
Was she in special ed. Classes or something ?
Anakin was a Knight for about 2 years and was training Ahsoka , and barris was still a damn padawan .
Was she in remedial classes or what ?
Hell , Anakin was a General and on the council and she was STILL a padawan.
Luke became a " master " faster than she went through being a padawan.
Let me guess , she took the short speeder to school ?

  7. The dynamic between Anakin and Darth Vader is fascinating. Vader must hate Anakin, Palpatine, and Obi Wan so much. Not because they destroyed him, but because they created him in the first place. Born into suffering, plagued by memories that aren't his own, no wonder he wants to kill all three of them so much.
