Why Ukraine Giving Up Nukes was a GOOD Idea

One can’t help but wonder if the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine would have happened if Ukraine had nuclear weapons. More specifically, if they had not given up their nuclear weapons after the collapse of the Soviet Union. But what happened to Ukrainian nukes, and why they gave them up, is #NotWhatYouThink #NWYT

  1. were they not so corrupt (and hateful) there'd be no fight in the first place.
But they are corrupt, and they are hateful, so a fight was necessary. Sincerely, reality.

  2. guy clearly doesn't understand MAD. who cares if ukraine nuking russia's west would hurt them they'd only be using them if russia was nuking them so they're already dead. by that logic natos nukes are usless too as nuking russia would cause nuclear fallout all over nato nations. whole point of MAD is no one will live, so neither side will use their nukes. thats why nato will never invade Russia. if Russia used its nukes they'd have fallout too even if nato did not respond, guess russia should get rid of their nukes by this logic. as for codes they are a nation so they can disassemble the nukes and change them. ukraine should kept their nukes and joined nato. then we wouldn't be in this shit thats leading towards ww3.

  4. THIS IS A RUSSIAN VIDEO- Of course Ukraine would have immediately recoded & reprogrammed the Nukes! WHAT IDIOT PROPAGANDA- EXACTLY AS THE METAPHOR-IF YOU LOSE THE KEYS TO A CAR, THE CAR IS NOT UNUSABLE- YOU SIMPLY REPLACE THE KEY PART TO THE IGNITIO NSYSTEM WHICH IS WHAT UKRAINE WOULD HAVE DONE IN A MATTER OF DAYS. So to say that UKRAINE gave up an "unusable" world's 3rd NUCLEAR ARSENAL BECAUSE IT WAS "UNUSABLE" IS A SICKENING RUSSIAN LIE. NOTHING MORE

  5. WARNING THIS IS RUSSIAN DISINFORMATION & CONSPIRACY THEORY!: RUSSIA NEVER WAS "MOTHER" & NEVER WILL BE TO any other Nation RATHER ONLY A GENOCIDAL IMERIALIST DRAGON…. THE ONE UNIQUE & SOLE REASON FOR UKRAINE BEING STRIPPED OF ITS NUKES IS….CORRUPTION & TREASON…

  6. Nukes are always bad news. Once used they all get used,
Not used they need lots of upkeep and protection.
The only way they could be a threat is when used but once.
    Ugh…
Glad to see nukes are not being used in this war.
    The outcome would be terrible.

  7. Russia should have kept all the weapons procured from Ukraine. It's purely between Russia and Ukraine and UN. Why US and UK involved between them, were they really necessary????they pushed themselves into this messed taking the advantage of the situation and tricked the Ukraine and got what they wanted trickedfreebies!

  8. ukraines army is only due to the 2014 revolution when the people kicked out russian stooges and a real elected govt took over. in response putin invaded crimea and sent girkin and his men to overthrow the rightful govt in donbas. the only coup in 2014 was by russia .
and many of those weapons sold off on the black market were sold by viktor bout who we just prisoner traded for nothing. so more russian meddling.

  9. So much wrong with this video..where to begin.. I'll start in reverse: Ukraine's "missed opportunities" (as you put them) was due to corrupt officials, most damaging were the pro-Russian politicians (e.g. Medvechuck @11:56, and esp Yanukovytch who as president dismembered the armed forces, and many others). As for not having launch codes ..aw c'mon, don't be silly. That's irrelevant, the most difficult & valuable part by far is the highly enriched nuclear material that makes it go BOOM. Ukrainian scientists could have easily developed other delivery platforms that they could fully control, including new short-range tactical nukes that would have been extremely effective deterrents against Russian invasion of Ukraine. These would also not have been a threat to distant lands such as USA so would not have been a direct issue to USA.

Also, what the heck do you mean by smthg like "well Ukraine's been given a lot of weapons now, without which it would have lost the war already"… as if that somehow makes up for failing to provide real security assurances as promised. E.g. Closing the skies from attack for which Ukraine has been begging since the beginning of the invasion, while we all watch the nightly news to see major Ukraine cities and its people getting bombed to rubble as some kind of entertainment, or sports team that we cheer on?

The only rational conclusions that can be drawn from the current situation is 1) A country should have nukes to provide its own security assurances 2) If another country (or countries) try to coax you to give up your nukes in exchange for security assurances….playback the highlight reels of Ukrainian cities getting bombed and and its people getting slaughtered by none less than one of the countries that actually provided the so-called security assurances, while the others gave weapons (with limited range) and basically watched.

    Definitely unsubbed, you're a hack.

  10. Many of the weapons our trashcans politicians are sending to crooked Ukraine have disappeared.
The money is being laundered back to the slime in the Capitol and their warmonger cronies.

  11. People think a comedian becoming president is bad. But then you look to the US, where the president becomes a "comedian" … Let's hope Biden is joking with the "performence" he gave in the last months.

  12. What a poorly researched and misleading video.
For one, common knowledge that Ukraine gave up $60 billions of nuclear assets while receiving "compensation" of 1% of that cost.
The codes were also not that big of a deal.

  13. This is a naive approach. What keeps North Korea safe is their possession of thermonuclear devices, not means of delivery. When you attack such a country, you need to be prepared on sleeper agents activating a device on your soil. It's not about stupid missiles that "could reach Guam" – who the fuk cares about Guam? It's about devices that might already be on safe places around the world, that could be transported via trade roots.
Would you risk launching all of your nukes if you were N.K, or would you employ saboteurs to smuggle them? Missiles are irrelevant, thing of prestige, but every physics graduate can make a compression explosion device. Military grade enriched uranium is what matters, nothing else.

  14. A WEEK later after the first javelin arrived to ukraine some were on sale on weapon black market telegram groups, a mere week later, the world try to fill a pierce basket with billions of dollar in weapons, a better control must be done, or soon or later you will see ISIS members with brand new javelin missile or worse…

  15. Giving up the nukes was a bad and stupid idea. With nukes, Ukraine would have had no reason (other than puppets wanting to do the bidding of their US masters) to want to join NATO, and the Ukraine war would not have happened.

  16. It could be a good thing if Russia and US can keep their promises. Ask any Ukrainian do they want a nuclear deterrence now so their families can avoid dying in the war. The answer would be pretty clear.
