If Egypt ever blows up that dam, the following is what can happen:
1. Ethiopia will just go to its border and poison all the water downstream. So that it cant be used for agriculture.
2. Ethiopia can bomb the Suez Canal. Destroying the economic bloodline of Egypt.
3. Ethiopia could target the pyramids. Destroying them would most definitely damage Egypt's tourism industry which has been bringing in a fortune for the country.
At the end of it all, this is not a war that Egypt can win. This is because Egypt is a disadvantaged country, to begin with.
The two countries just need to sit it out and agree on the best course of action.
the white nile river sitting there watching them 2 fight
Man I’m so proud of Ethopia, the only African country doing what is best for their people and not following corrupt leaders, if Egypt politicians were not so corrupt they would have enough money to come up with a seater solution
Why should Ethiopia have to continue yet to suffer so Egypt can continue what its doing? Why hasn't Egypt looked for ways to expand beyond that single river, sounds like to me they put all their eggs in o e basket and refused to adapt.
That's crazy that a country can tell you that you cannot build a damn in your own country because you don't have rights to the waters in your own country.
If Egypt and other unions tried to get into negotiations with Ethiopia but they outright refused, then they deserve whatever happens to them. Thats not how the world work, this is embarrassing and they are bringing it upon themselves. They dont live alone
I mean Ethiopia should be able to do what ever benefits them best, it’s their land after all.
When they blow up the dam, every single power in the world will attack Egypt, just because it would mean getting your hands on the Suez Canal. And that is something America the EU or even Russia and China can't pass on.
You U.K in before world war one they conquer that country also started stealing resources and place espionage near Saudi Arabia to suppress the ottoman empire in a nut shell if Egypt and Ethiopia go to war it's indirectly the U.K fault they rule Egypt as a proxy country gaining further interest to conquer more land with their long held secret friend in conquering Africa which is France.
Did you just get here because of the BRICS?
I can't even be mad at egypt if the time comes whe the risks of attacking ethiopia no longer outweigh the benefits like during a major drought, and they bomb the dam because it's sort of reasonable to attack the thing that's threatening the existance of your country and could cause mass unemployment and starvation. and ethiopia doesn't even seem to be interested in nagotiations to prevent egypt from getting in that desperate position which makes everything even worse
"Patrick Willems on how to make a movie"
Yea, no. I'm not taking lessons from someone who doesn't understand how in-universe rules play into constructing a narrative.
As Egyptian i Wonder Ethiopia has twelve lakes and nine rivers why can't they turn one of them to the Nile to support the filling they have plenty of water it won't affect them i don't wish for a war but its looks like those people love nothing then fighting and i am afraid they will regret it Big Time
Blue nile contributes 85% of Nile River.
In summary screw Egypt
The biggest problem is the water reserved is much like a bomb that can fully destrroy Sudan and parts of Egypt, even if the filling alone is politicalty solved.
World is still suffering from the burden of the cynical, selfish, absurd and totally anamolous "Treaties" of 19th and 20th century drafted by brain dead and short sighted Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Dutch, Portugues, Belgians and others colonial powers . International law needs a doctrine carving exceptions to succession to Treaties. Or the states must exercise sovereignty to crumble and throw away these Sikes Picot, Mcmohan, Durand, Creek, lines, get the Falklands, 38th Parallel, French Guinea, Midway Islands, British Indian ocean territory Diego Garcia etc. etc.
damn bro rip Egypt africa gotta help each other out
"as a ___" 🤓
I guess Egypt should have made their move under Anwar.. ya snooze you lose, right?
I'm on Ethiopia's side, they want the dam filled for practical purposes for the development of their country. Egypt wants it to continue in their dictatorship-like plans to build massive luxury cities like the New Capital with a park 6× the size of Central Park. The poorest of Egypt aren't gonna see a drop of that clean water at all. Fuck Egypt for causing such conflict because they want to water their lawns.
21:34 only non-binding? Sounds like they don't plan to honour it.
It's "desert", not "deser… t".
I'm a bit spooked by how little I know about the Ethiopia-Tigray war.
war war war go war
go kill eachother
As a Kenyan, based on this video, Egypt's case is more justifiable
Why doesn't Egypt think of the dam as an asset? They get to buy clean, cheap, and renewable energy while also having a huge back-up water supply in case of severe droughts…It's literally a win/win for both countries…I guess the real problem is who gets to decide what, where, and when…
As a European who knows nothing more than what's presented and a basic human history I have to admit that I am heavily on Ethiopia's side. Egypt is like as old as humanity in the essence of society-based function. Yet they seem to solely rely on one thing for 5000 years, the Nile. The thing that makes modern countries superpowers is the ability to adapt, Egypt like Greece ( since I am Greek ) failed to walk towards the improvement and technology. Ethiopia in the minds of the average person is just "a poor country" no one knows anything more for them and it's a pity, and now they have a chance with a clean energy ( vs India, China etc ) to make something of themselves. They were brutally suppressed and Egyptians even announced that they will die in Ethiopia if a dam is built so OF COURSE now the Ethiopians will not back down and demand on holding everything for themselves. I am sure they can find a middle point IF a problem for Egyptians occur, but Ethiopia has the right to do whatever they want inside their boundaries IMO.
What about desalination? Is it not viable for Egypt?
We give 100 million to Ethiopia? What in the hell for?
It's all advertising now.
Let say the Egyptians destroy the Ethiopian dam what will the Ethiopians do to retaliate “Aswan dam” !! Don’t Tell me Ethiopia broke the international law ha ha !! I don’t like Ethiopia to begin with why I am ERITREAN by origin.
What do mean the Nile doesn’t have main source?
If you do your homework blue Nile source Lake Tana of Ethiopia while White Nile source is Lake Victoria! Get your view more blunt.
I,m from ethiopia💚💚💚💚💚💛💛💛💛💛💛💛❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ it is my dam
Eritrea was under Italian colony it was not apart of Ethiopia
So correct your map
Am I the only one who sees a flower design along the Nile, the delta being the flower and there being a leaf right under
Honestly I take Egypt's side here (not an Egyptian). If I had a drain on my wall with the trickling water as my lifeline I'd go kill my neighbor if he tried to block it it to make money off of it despite my pleas to find a mutual solution, because based on all morality and ethics philosophies, killing you by stopping you from knowingly commit an action that would result in my death is considered self defense.
This exactly sounds like the Mad Max Fury Road movie and Ethiopia is Immortan Joe. Ethiopia sounds like a neighbor from hell
Im from Somalia 🇸🇴 but we always Stand Egypt, Sudan Eritrea etc All the enemies of Ethiopia 🇪🇹
