Why the Raiders should re-sign Darius Philon for the 2022/23 season!

Title speaks for itself. I believe the Raiders should resign Darius Philon to a 2-3 year extension. He is a solid DT and a nice piece to the Raiders D-Line. I’m wondering what Raider Nation is thinking so comment down below to discuss what you think!

  1. Don’t know how he fits this new defense but was part of a solid rotation that kept the DTs fresh, aggressive & very little drop off, if any, no matter who was in. Feels like a Raiders & a good teammate. Hope he can recover 100% & rejoin the active roster when needed.

  2. Philon was solid with the Chargers, but he got into some personal problems and they let him walk. Arizona picked him up for a while and he was decent at best, but playing for the Raiders against the Chargers you saw the best of him because he never really got motivated to do anything except for to prove himself, so if he has something to prove on a game to game basis, then you have a very good player.

  3. I liked the impact that he brought, it was painful to see him go down with that injury. I do agree with others here though… not sure he fits the new scheme but if given an opportunity I think he wins a spot

  4. It is rare when an interior lineman, offense or defense, stands out so that a fan watching a game has his attention drawn away from the QB or runners to the lineman. Philon stood out. The Raider D was different with him out there. I saw him push l
O line man back, disrupt runs and tackle for losses and pressure QBs. He'd make a great nose tackle in a 3-4 scheme framing on a rotation with a beast like Suh. Let them try and run or get time to pass. I want him back.
