In this video we are doing a review of staying at Horseshoe Hotel and Casino at the center of the Las Vegas Strip. I stayed in the cheapest room available (Resort King) and was able to get upgraded to a higher floor with a better view without doing the $20 trick. I’ll give you a walkthrough tour of the property, show you a lot of activities and new things to do since they changed their name from Bally’s. We’ll cover the hotel room, the WSOP poker room, how to find the uber and lyft pickup spot, the new arcade (former sportsbook), Twilight Zone by Monster Mini Golf, Bodies Exhibit, National Geographic Rarely Seen, Cabinet of Curiosities Bar and Speakeasy, gym/fitness center, food court, pool, monorail station, Bazaar Shops, steakhouse, restaurants, best photo spots and history (MGM fire). We’ll wrap up the video with pros and cons, the resort fee, taxes, how good of a value the property is (cheap vs expensive), what type of traveler it is ideal for and a few employee shout outs!

  1. I have only been to Las Vegas once and stayed at Bally’s. Other than a few new attractions on the lower level, the place looks pretty much the same. It was cheap and had a very good location. Parking was free back then (5 years ago). Definitely a bargain for a comfortable but not terribly fancy place.

  2. I stayed here in September, during the transition, I honestly loved our stay , the location is fantastic and rooms were spacious. We even got partial view of the fountains and Eiffel Tower view, so far my favorite 🙂

  3. Lol the resort fee is more than the price of the room everything in Vegas is a scam all this greed has to catch up to them charging six to eight dollars for a bottle of water is the average price in Vegas that's ridiculous if you enjoy gambling good food and entertainment save your money and go to Laughlin Nevada

  4. Glad you mentioned a little history and the famous fire of 1980. I read that some people in the casino didn't want to leave their slot machine even though the place was on fire—how dumb was that. Also, Vegas supposedly now has the toughest fire code in the country because of that fire.

  5. Still looks unfinished. Classless as well. Won’t stay there anymore. Used to stay when it was Ballys and BLT Steak was there. We had a lot of good times there. They brought Binions Steakhouse in there and they charge almost $100 for a steak. Outrageous. Your reward points won’t take you very far. I used to gamble and have enough points to pay for dinner for me, my wife, and my father. Forget it know.

  6. I used to bring my 80 year old Dad to Vegas for the Manny Pacquiao fights and the University of Hawaii football games versus UNLV, and we usually stayed at Ballys. They were always nice to us and we enjoyed ourselves. There was a huge Sportsbook in the bottom level; it looked like a big, sloping down auditorium. Wonder how their Sportsbook is now? We also stayed at the Rio back in it’s glory days. Now that was a fun action packed hotel with it’s Mardi Gras theme, famous buffets, loose slots and tables, rooftop nightclub, gorgeous waitresses, all rooms were suites, great pools, fabulous shows like Danny Gans and Prince. So sad to hear about the Rio’s demise.

  7. To long time locals it will always be the MGM Grand. I parked in front ot the Dunes and watched flames shooting out from the front of the hotel.
The Horseshoe died with Benny Binion.
