When Gustave Eiffel’s company built Paris’ most recognizable monument for the 1889 World’s Fair, many regarded the massive iron structure with skepticism. Today, the Eiffel Tower, which continues to serve an important role in television and radio broadcasts, is considered an architectural wonder and attracts more visitors than any other paid tourist attraction worldwide. More than 7 million people visit this iconic tower every year. Since the tower’s 1889 opening, 250 million people worldwide have enjoyed all the Eiffel Tower offers. And it has a lot to offer. The tower’s three platforms are home to two restaurants, several buffets, a banquet hall, a champagne bar, and many unique gift shops. Educational tours of the tower are available for children and tourist groups. But one spot has fascinated many—the “secret” apartment.

  1. Five BILLION lights? I'm definitely going to need a source on that one. I couldn't imagine maintaining five billion of anything physical. Not to mention the electricity.

  2. Seems a pity to make a 16 minute long video and not only not visit the subject and film it yourself, since you’re using apparently solely other people’s visual work, but even then not even include any video of the inside of the apartment.

  3. Just to let you know the excess steel guarders which weren't used in the erection of the tower end up has a bridge in Portugal, apparently the mayor was a friend of Mr. Eiffel?

  4. Why would you show B roll of the Las Vegas Eiffel Tower? This is what I hate with so many poorly executed Youtube videos. Do you not do the research when putting these videos together?

  5. 5 BILLION lights. Come on. How could you even say that and not laugh into the mic? Even if they were 1 watt each that would be 5 gigawatts of power or enough to power 3.75 MILLION homes! They would still be wiring them to this day! Lets say the wiring, the bulbs and the sockets average out to one ounce per bulb. That would weigh 312 MILLION pounds! Come on man. A quick googling says their are 20,000 bulbs on the thing.

  6. The fact that this apartment never had a bedroom shows that it isn't a rich man's vanity. Apparently, it was meant as a break area for scientists. Of course, back then, scientists were gentlemen, like Eiffel, himself, so entertaining was a thing. The idea of renting the space to a hedge fund manager would have have offended him to no end. Men, like Eiffel, may be have been very wealthy, but they would join with the penniless socialists in looking down on people that devote their lives to enriching themselves by manipulating markets.
