Russia would be better off building a brand new aircraft carrier from scratch. Yes, it is expensive. However, they are already spending a lot of money. It is a much better investment.
I was on the USS Truett F F 1095 and in 1977 we actually followed the Russian carrier cruiser ship Kiev through the Suez Canal as a matter fact we were independent on the med cruise we shadowed it everywhere it went ,the Russians at the time were bringing in Cuban pilots to train with the Somali‘s!Our skipper was Commander Tom Lynch now a retired rear admiral he was the best skipper I ever had out of my whole naval career! 🙂

Russia doesn't threaten other countries on the other side of the world. Only USA does that, this is why USA has aircraft carriers – to bring its military to remote countries they threatened, but should stay away from. There is one bully in this world and irs not Russia.
It's not the only one build, the sister ship was still build when the union fell, it was then unfinished sold to China, with finished building it and fitting it to their needs, and they still use it today, not in active service but as a training vessel for future aircraft carrier personel
China cannot have a real navy until they have a real complex of allies abroad.

To be honest Russia needs to start from scratch and build a real aircraft carrier! They should take the one they have a gut it for the most part and redesign the whole ship! They also need a version of a catapult and get rid of the sky jump ramp! Peace!

Does anyone else think these videos have become biased recently? I don't care for Russia or the USA but both sides do some pretty awful things. Yeah this ship isn't great but comments like 'bombing civilians because military targets are too easy' are ridiculous. Every country does this. Hiroshima, Dresden etc. I like the content but it's getting way too lop sided
