The planet Mars is already mysterious, always at the center of convoluted historical and observational events and conjectures bordering on science fiction…
Such a planet, could it have normal moons with a normal history? No, obviously not!
And in fact, the red planet is found – not enough the rest – with the smallest, strange, and talked about moons of the solar system.
Talked about even before their discovery, since their existence and their almost exact distance from Mars was already predicted by the Irish writer Johnatan Swift in 1726, that is 150 years before their actual discovery, which occurred in 1877 thanks to the observational tenacity of the American astronomer Asaph Hall.
Mysterious moons, because even today it is not possible to understand where they came from, since they look like two small asteroids, but they follow perfectly regular orbits, as they were big moons like Ganymede or Titan.

Knowing humankind I believe that this planet will take over and subjugate whatever is there. We would be considered invaders. I bet elon musk would like to do that.
Some Crew missions to Mars are to be expected, but a big colony on Mars in the next decades, it's not economical viable. The trip to Mars could be done using a modular Spaceship assembled at LEO, powered by Nuclear Engines for a faster voyage, while landing on Mars with a compact Crew capsule. While an Ascent module from other previous supply missions, would already be ready in the surface for the return trip docking with the Spaceship, and then landing on Earth with another Crew capsule.
Conquest of Mars? I didn't know we were involved in an interplanetary war, Are we winning?
Now why would anyone want to make a colony on a rock that has impact craters on it and quite possibly be bombarded with even more at any time? If this were me I'd be landing directly on Mars and build colonies, besides those little old rocks don't sound very stable.

That's an interesting concept, however any probe that tried to get close to phobos did not manage. Why is that? Well, shall we try to guess?
