Why North Korea Is Impossible to Invade

Have you ever wondered why North Korea seems impossible to invade?

We can think at least 20 to 60 reasons why and they all come down to the following two words: nuclear warhead. According to the Congressional Research Service this is the estimated number of warheads North Korea would be able to produce with the fissile material at its disposal. Terrifying, right? Unfortunately, this is just one of the many reasons this country appears to be impenetrable. Even without nuclear weapons, North Korea possesses other forms of deterrence.

So, why is invading North Korea so difficult? What other forms of deterrence does North Korea possess? And how do these factors contribute to North Korea’s reputation as an impossible-to-invade nation?

Find out in this video as we explore the unique challenges that make an invasion of North Korea almost impossible.

  1. North Korea can always be destroyed through Russia and Ukraine is so close to the Russian border Beijing would also risk getting cut off from the rest of the world further destroying it's place in the world.

  2. Nice! So most Nkoreans will never be as successful and prosperous as Skorean. therefore War is already won by Skorea. Not only is Nkorea poor but is being used as a pawn, a useful id iot of china.🤣😂 Skorea worked with US and made its people prosperous, Nkorea worked with russia/china and its people ended up hungry and poor. Only way for a successful NKorea is for Nkorea to stop bending over for china and putin.

I believe alot of Nkorean soldier will surrender or defect if there is an invasion. I am sure they know life will be much better in Skorea.

  3. Boh. As if there isn't a proved system to trigger mines, or MRAVs.
One bomb to decapitate the country, it would not even defend enough to give food to defectors.
On top of that, nobody wants to go into NK, why to invade?
As soon as CCP stops subsidizing the brutal regime of Kim the butcher, it will collapse.

  4. North Korea is somewhat a lot like China, they have substantial forces, BUT they have yet to ever be truly tested and DPRK lacks resources to set up widespread logistics operations causing their Frontline troops to wither on the vine.

  5. You seem to be assuming that the South/USA would be attacking rather than defending, the North would have already attacked Seoul so that argument is invalid as are most of the other arguments based on an attack by the South/USA. Why bother with hypotheticals, but as for that why bother going over land when you can attack from the sea? All of the points you bring up are simply the excuses that the North uses to justify its vast expenditure on weapons to its starving population.

  6. No one wants to invade NK because they would be stuck with giving care to a nation that is weak and infected, the costs to feed and treat those people would in the long run exceed the costs of just a war. Its one of those nations the world would rather forget exists and let it continue to rot from the inside out.

  7. What if we just declare a "people's war" on them instead? No need for ICBMs, just slowly erode them. Death by a thousand cuts, none of which are a damaging to justify a full scale retalliation from them. Make some shitty app to dull their youth and let time do our job for us, for instance. Just spitballing here.

  8. NK did not have nukes for a long time, and yet, nobody invaded them. The real reason NK is impossible invade is that they have 20 million people with no skills that you would have to feed, educate, and build infrastructure for. Nobody, not even the South Koreans, wants that.

  9. It is goofy to even pose such a question of "Why North Korea Is Impossible to Invade?" The North Korea and the South Korea are mutually recognized separate independent sovereign states, each possessing its own seats in the United Nations. Why even bother to imagine that the South Korea and the US invade the North Korea? The military industrial complex is really in short and tight budget now? Or on the verge of going Chapter 11?

  13. Nobody wants to invade NK……they can live forever as they are if they decide not to keep threatening Japan and South Korea. If NK launches one nuke…..it will be their last one.

  14. Isn't North Korea a geopolitical salient for BOTH China and Russia against the USA? Aren't both China and Russia interested in keeping North Korea bristling with military power as their buffer/stronghold/outpost, a strategic forward operating base to counter US presence in Far East? North Korea could also serve as a proxy state actor for China and Russia in all forms of conflict with the USA and its allies. And as far as toughness and capabilities of the Korean nation are concerned, the very fact that the North Koreans have survived the insane totalitarian regime for 70 years as a people testifies to their resilience and hardiness even under adverse conditions, so they must be a formidable fighting force fighting until the end (due to constant survival mode and radical indoctrination of the regime, PAK's determination in a defensive war would be fanatic). Other East Asian nations have also proven over and over again in the 20th century that they are very tough and determined fighters capable of enduring immense sacrifice and suffering in an armed conflict.
To conclude: Just don't even think about invading North Korea.

  15. 10 years ago, I read an article that US intelligence said that the DPRK regime would only be able to feed their troops, out in the field, for either one week or one month. Not a logistics issue, but an actual food quantity issue. Take nukes and China out of the equation, and NK would fall in two months.

Regardless, no need to invade. They'll slowly rot away, from the inside.

  17. There are around 10000 (In the video you mention 6000) pieces of artillery pointed directly at Seoul so, that city would be destroyed within hours if any aggression was attempted. Plus they now have nukes which even a decade ago, the west was claiming they would need many years to develop. Nobody should underestimate the ability they have to cause a ruccas.
