Plum Island, located off the northeastern coast of Long Island, New York, has a rich history spanning centuries. Originally known as “Isle des Plumes” by early French settlers due to its abundant bird population, it later became a haven for pirates and smugglers during the colonial era. In the 19th century, it was used as a quarantine station for diseased livestock, helping prevent the spread of diseases to mainland farms. During World War II, the island was taken over by the U.S. government and used for military purposes. In 1954, the Plum Island Animal Disease Center was established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where research on infectious animal diseases, including foot-and-mouth disease, was conducted. Today, the island remains a site of scientific research, though its future is uncertain amidst discussions of potential closure and redevelopment.

Hey everyone, here's a quick clarification: 0:07 -should be "off the coast of Long Island" – Thanks for watching!
You say you know what they do and don't do there like you work there. You don't know anything. Speculate all you want, but the government does not tell you the truth about anything.
Home of Lyme disease among many others.
Great read. Island 257. Tells you everything that was going on out there.
U.s. coast guard used to patrol it. At 2.5 miles you got a warning to turn around. At 2 miles you got another warning. At 1.5 miles you got your final warning then you would be sunk
Early on they used Nazi scientists
Looks like Crab Key to me. There's a dragon on that island man. Don't go there.
Can anyone verify this is still in operation?
RIht Ly Ly
I see your drinking the government Kool-Aid the government never makes mistakes
It's morw than 110 miles from New York City.
Hay may did u look into the scientist that ghey hired that was a specialist in infected tics and test of infectious rates…. like so the tics can be deployed infecting live stock to weaken ect. Targeted live stock..
We had a big outbreak of foot and mouth disease here in the uk. And there was concern about whether it could be transmitted to us humans, also possibly via eating a cow that had foot & mouth. If i recal some polotician got major flak for using his maybe 10 year old daughter chowing down on a beefburger!! So the implication i was left with was that yes, it could be dangerous to us if we eat the meat of an animal thats infected. So yup,i shall look into this as im not yet too certain about this issue!
OMG, what a whitewash video. If you read the book, “Lab 257” you would know that the worst of the worst toxic, and terrible animal experiments were conducted on Plum Island.
The first non-corrupt inspectors were horrified to see 2 inch gaps between the walls and ceiling of what we were told were, “hermetically sealed biolabs”.
My grand father worked there for years !
This was good video. I would say it was 99% accurate.
I live just 7 miles west of Plum Island in the North Fork town of Greenport, and I have for my entire life. (I am 54 years old.)
My father, many of his friends, my friends, and a wide array of local people were employed there. Most for over 20 years.
I attended three Family Days on the island. Days where the families of workers were invited to the island for tours and a nice picnic/BBQ lunch.
While the labs were off-limits for obvious reasons, the workers and supervisors were extremely clear about the operations of the facility.
So I have a pretty good idea of what is, or is not true about Plum Island. So you conspiracy freaks can calm your jets.
Yeah, it’s not even close to NYC. It’s actually closer to Newport, RI.
Lyme disease was created by Plum island scientists when they messed with ticks.
I owned a home in Amagansett for years.
All of the year round residents knew to stay away from Plum Island. You couldn’t get anywhere near it since it was so heavily guarded.
It was an open secret that it was a government run lab that “dealt”with nasty infectious diseases.
Such a beautiful area, but you were definitely near the twilight zone.
And yes, there were definitely experiments with ticks as vectors or delivery systems for a wide variety of infectious diseases, Lyme disease being one of the many.
Lyme (includes other tick borne diseases) is the fastest growing notifiable diseases in this country according to the cdc.
Most people think it’s only Lyme, but there are many other tick borne diseases in this country. They’re all nasty and can be very difficult to treat.
Rubbish……. No mention of the nazi biologist that ran the island after the war
"Rule #1; I dont believe anything the government tells me" -George Carlin
You never mentioned who runs plum Island, scientists from Nazi Era who specialized in turning spiders and ticks into bio weapons
It is also the place where Lime disease began.
If I know about Plum
Plumber Island absolutely researched lines disease.
Read 'Plumb Island'
by Nelson DeMille = Great book!!
So many questions you didn't address:
1) How many people work there?
2) Does anyone actually live on the island?
3) I saw no bridge. How do the workers get to work?
What about birds as a disease vector? Rumors concerning Plumb island as lyme disease origin point.? "It isn't." is hardly an exhaustive defense. Mapping of very early cases clearly show Plumb Island as a central location with cases first showing up in Lyme CT and the Northeastern Long Island shore communities.
Not close to New York City.
All the security measures in the world won't ever prevent things from happening. Wa La Lyme disease and COVID-19 and who knows what else. If you play with fire you can expect to get burned.
The only thing that is forbidden is the truth.

Plum island is owned by the government, the government nonstop proves that they can not be trusted by lying about everything so why wpuld we believe that then stick to proper ethic codes at plum island?
Plum island is shaped like a duck.. call it duck island
Covid…
