Why Navy Sailors STOPPED Jumping Off Aircraft Carrier Flight Decks

US Navy sailors used to be able to jump off of aircraft carrier flight decks. They could even climb up the anchor chains and jump off the anchor … all in the name of FUN! But FUN and SAFETY needs to be balanced. That’s why drinking rules for Navy sailors are a lot more strict than they were a few decades ago. Swim calls and steel beach parties are still popular activities for US Navy sailors, but the dangers that are involved in some of these activities, and how the Navy tries to mitigate them, is #NotWhatYouThink #NWYT #longs #swimcall

  1. Being away from home, it’s painful, but the family you have and having Ralph boosting events is so important to the love and empathy and compassion of our service members. We need a little bit of love and it also makes us understand that their battle buddies on the front lines That enjoy sharing it and believe it or not there’s a time and place where we’re not getting shot at and we have a time where we can make fun of each other. Hang out hug and love each other because it may be the last time. These traditions are important, but it be the Air Force may be the Marine Corps the army the Coast Guard , these little traditions to show that we are still part of something so beautiful is dedicated to the idea that we are family

  2. We've got to shelter our sailors, so a well deck is the true measure of swim call. We have to make sure nobody gets any boo boo's. This really primes our brains to know pain and to stay focoused incase of a casualtie. It teaches us courage.
