Interesting post. Poling's assessment could be very inaccurate, likely relying too much on Chicom published sources. First, their planes, especially fighter/interceptors are incapable of a flight to those refs for various reasons. Doubt you can find any there even with the "hangars". They have added runways and transports with the range can land. Supply is by ship and missiles, radars and gears are there. And those missiles and radars are very inaccurate. They are not going to hit a carrier. Second, Taiwan governs some similar reefs within visual range long before the Chicom construction. Ito Abu is the best island because it has a large lagoon. There are runways and radar stations. They have been working on a deeper docking facility. It was always supplied by air for the small rotating garrison. It even hosted a Presidential visit some years ago. They keep a very low profile. Both US and Philippines know this. Of course they share intelligence probably see every interesting Chicom move on those artificial reefs. Almost for sure American planes have used those runways. Just remember, with Mainland China, always remember things are not what they seem. By the way those artificial constructions are already crumbling. And are those hangers real?
