Why Lyman matters for Russia's odds in the Ukraine War | DW News

Ukrainian forces are pushing ahead with their counteroffensive after recapturing a key eastern town from Russia. The Ukrainian military says it struck several Russian command posts and ammunition depots. Moscow’s defense military is also claiming to have destroyed Ukrainian missile depots.
President Zelenskyy says Lyman in the eastern Donetsk region has been quote “fully cleared” of Russian troops, who retreated from the town on Saturday.
US defense minister Lloyd Austin said Ukraine’s victory in Lyman would be a strategic headache for Russia as it seeks to hold off the counteroffensive elsewhere.

  1. If Russia is allowed to win, and Russia eats the four states of Ukraine, it will be the greatest shame of a civilized society. The world has developed to the present, and it can no longer be in the era of the law of the jungle, but should be civilized and respect each other. The United States and NATO should be more vigorous Aid Ukraine until Russia fails completely! ! Ukraine must win! !💯💯

  3. I would like to see inhabitants of these cities stating that they are happy to be liberated, would provide quite some reassurance that the right thing is happening.

  4. Zelensky is grandstanding in daily videos. He tells citizens to fight while his family stay away from the action. Why not surrender & save cities and lives! Russia will win either way. With sanctions Ukraine will get undamaged cities back

  5. The Stalinist system in the Soviet Union claimed millions of victims: those who were shot, starved, died in the Gulag, those who died in pointless operations at the front. Was the communist ideology to blame for these millions of deaths, or were they the victims of a modernization dictatorship, or, third possibility, did the dictator Stalin himself bear the main responsibility for these millions of deaths? The Berlin historian Jörg Baberowski takes a new position on this question with his new book "Scorched Earth – Stalin's Reign of Violence". The expert in East European Studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin comes to the conclusion that the crimes would not have been possible without Stalin's pathological personality.
