PvP needs to be "balanced" around group combat in an MMO (Look at DAoC for a reference). If you try and do it on duels of 2v2s you lose class identity to try and balance it.
another issue is classes having alot of dead ablilities limiting builds …. sharpshooter for example in both pvp and pve 50% of the abilities are not viable which is extremely bad for keeping a main fun….. and im not someone who wants to play alts to keep the game fun i would rather just play different builds
I generally like alts. There is more than one fun class and being able to enjoy all of them is important to me. With that said, alts are fun only if they are optional and you can play them for themselves such has switching your gameplay and playstyle for a while as you see fit. But it should not be mandatory in any way and totally not solely to progress your main character. In short, any character should be able to manage its own progression.
11:22 . I 100% agree with you there. For myself, I just reached lvl 50 on my main char. I love playing the game, but I see all these problems with it in the end game content so that i rather level my 2nd char instead of starting with the end game. I would catagorize myself as a casual player (no time to play the game hardcore) and i rly rly rly hope that they fix the issues with it, because the game can be so much fun and i havent even faced the real good boss fights yet.

Asmon usually has good takes, but that PvP shit at the end was completely fucking retarded. Came down to him saying "PvP isn't popular because PvE is" which is relative privation; both can be popular. And it came down to him saying "Lost Ark and League are the same because of the perspective" and literally nothing else, which is like saying Valheim = League of Legends and WoW = Breath of the Wild.
Lost Ark is literally an eSport in Korea. Of course MMO PvP isn't going to be as popular as a game dedicated to PvP that has crazy numbers and has been around for 10+ years like League or built off the Overwatch hype like Valorant, but given the sheer size of the game, if even 5% of people play it, the game is automatically infinitely more popular than 99% of fighting games, card games, and most shooters (PvP games). It's just LESS popular than the absolute extremes of PvP popularity.
Asmon has literally never touched PvP, didn't know there's like four different game modes (more with the calender events), and thinks that because there's isometric perspective with abilities that they're the same game. Jesus christ.
You have the best ideas.
BOOM within the 5 minutes of this video you nailed my reason for stopping I was having a blast until tier 1 level 10 then it non stop failed and I said no way am I gonna spend my valuable time grinding this shit for this lol
T2 was only hard because I didn't know you could get more honing books and breaths from cubes. I got a ton of them later on after I decided to do cube when I was T3. Instead of a 40% for +15 T2 geae, its 70%. Had to just throw them away since they were character bound.
actually about alts, i personally like playing multiple classes and enjoy the different playstyles + it's actually rewarding to do so which is for me great
i would much rather play 3-6 characters with different playstyles and different themes than be stuck grinding on the same class forever, however i still agree with it being mandatory a bad thing
on another matter, i reached T3 2 days ago and so far it's kinda been hellish, accessories are very expensive compared to T1 and 2 so you end up losing a lot of power from engravings unless you get lucky and get the right pieces yourself simply because the whales rushed to argos, cleared basically everything and are now dominating the market and in turn ruining the average player's experience, now i know the prices will get better when more and more players join T3 and there's a lot of gear on the market but as of now it's very very frustrating having to swap legendary T2 accessories with the same engravings on a T3 epic accessory for x10-20 the price
I think the PVP store will have honing mats and such and NA will see a pretty strong increase in PVP. It won't get as popular as K-Ark. Over there it's got a strong e-sport following.
And I got 1340 tonight, the honing is brutal but generally I find it fine. A boost in mats will be very welcomed

I wouldn’t say PvP in Lost Ark or MMO’s in general is necessarily a doomed idea. As a huge competitive game consumer I think that PvP in most MMO’s is just designed poorly or lacks an element that makes the PvP scene appealing. For instance WoW PvP has always felt like full of balance issues. Lost Ark has a nice approach to mitigate this problem but the game modes in terms of win condition / game objective is just dull. Deathmatching in different setups just doesn’t alone provide enough depth to theorycrafting and making different builds and tactics to fulfill the game objective. However creating a well designed game mode (capturing points, destroying enemy base etc.) could make Lost Ark a really nice PvP game as well.
I did all the islands that'd give materials and bought all T2 materials I could from vendors and eventho' I got insanely lucky and got my T2 equipment from lv13 to lv15 with 0 fails, I still struggled to get everything I needed. We really need more ways to get T1/T2 mats, specially Shards.

MAterials are a problem in T2.
Yesterday, I did my dailies, chaos dungeons, guardian raids…. it was enough to try my armour twice and my weapon once… all +11, all failed.
I know my luck was bad, but it is annoying.

Make the t3 mats from the extra events available to everyone… Less rush more choice more freedom.
There is no reason not to, if you already show what is available. (usually this is not the case)
My friend was even surprised there is an ilvl of much above 800 when he explored the event rewards… He really enjoyed the game UNTIL then. Bummer.
So originally, this step by step system is really well designed for new players IMHO. I don't know why they ruin it now with those seemingly rushed events. It should rather be build into the game permanently, IMO.
Exploration should be FUN. Incentivized but not something you want to stress… Makes people leave…
Ppl play it in their free time you know, not to have a 2nd job. (at least most of em)

i would say that 95% of the playerbase is in tier3 since asmon's char is our char
I spent 4 days of farming with 2 characters, opened all tier 2 honing material chests, bought from mary shop, used the chaos dungeon reset potions, progressed some islands, etc ….literally 4 full days of farming + all the loot of grandprix of 1 week, buyout the chaos vendor and all the goodies we got -> I got 2 armor pieces from lvl 11 to 12 and the weapon from lvl 12 to 13.
It was about 20 attempts of honing with 70+ % honing chance.
And from those 20 attempts (using enhancers even on that chances in 12 from 20) I got 2 armor parts and 1 lvl in the weapons….and the rest were misses. Yesterday I was nearly deleting the game. I understand that chances are chances …but at least I need somewhere to go to continue getting materials.
2 days ago, after dailies, opening all chests…gaming was OVER after 1 1/2 hours.
And now I can barely hone the weapon 1 time per day…and then it is over.
And then annoyances like: Why cant you upgrade potions or that stuff that litters your stash like crazy.
The 500 potions from rohendel are wastly useless.
Not being able to shift around and try things out is nasty as well. And this in endgame? I dont know…the whole concept is flawed.
And lets ve honest: The depth of combat skills and characters build possibilities with all these systems is literally lightyears away from games like gw2, where you mix match armor, have loads of proper skins to make it pook good and the tons of traitlines, professions, runes, sigils…The depth is probably 3-4 times as variable as in lost ark. You play 1 set character…with your gear decisions (which isnt a decision) and you cannot even do somthing different, that might be beneficial in class synergy.
I am sorry, but the gear is flat .flat AF…and people dont get it!
my brother stoped the game in t1..
he saw the upgrade system,.. and said "no,.. what a dump shit"
i have now 2 chars on t3 (bard & sorc) and two chars on end of t2 (Wardancer & Gunslinger)
5 other chars i created also for the future, but still no class assigned (iam waiting for the new classes)
i deleted the game day after the update , honing rates are a trap , fuck the pay to win piece of shit
I always expect a bottleneck with materials. For that reason when I pick a new mmo, I level my favorite 3 classes to max level. 1 main 2 mules with a possible future as a main. Bottom line, no bottleneck
The idea of the alts feeding mains is odd, If you want to limit Chaos runs to 2 (but really you need to do alts so the real limit is say 6 or 8 runs daily… ) why not just limit chaos per rooster instead of character? It's the same thing with less steps.
I'm a bit more casual and I'm at 1080 and started later. I've liked the slow down in tier 2 so i can do more horizontal content, but I'm starting to feel like i'm running out of things and would like to move up. So far the added 10% honing books really have helped so it doesn't' feel hopeless to upgrade.
I didn't buy any mats or transfer any mats from my alts to my main to get to t3. It took about two weeks of playtime to get from 600 to 1100, maybe three. Just did Una's weekly tasks, guardian raid, and chaos dungeons.
so this is supposed to be an accelerated version lmao! there's no way I'm ever playing this game, i can't even imagine how bad it would be if it's already this bad in "accelerated" mode. this game is already filled with progress stallers and pay to win mechanics. this game is only going to get worse.
gotta disagree with your take on mmo pvp. i love mmo pvp and don't like league or cod or valorant.
I always enjoyed alts in WoW so the fact this game makes the alt process so friendly, and the rested system makes it so that I don't NEED to play the alts every day is so nice. I played WoW for a bit last week, and after having a friend boost a character for me because he wanted me to play Horde I just found myself dissapointed because I never had the chance to really feel how the character plays until after I had done part of the end game quest and we had already partially geared the character…Lost Ark is so much easier, and since I am not rushing it is just a good time.
T2 is a good point. I was really enthusiastic about the game at first but at t2, the amount of effort & time you need to put in simply to be able to access the "best part of the game" at t3 and beyond is kind of insulting.
I could be playing different games. And I am.
Ice cream and cheese are the same thing.
They are both made with dairy.
the game will break once we reach 5% and 3% honing rates in legion raids. the game will die before we get Brelshaza. to do Brelshaza you need +20 full gear. +19 for +20 = 3% hone chance. at this point you either no life with 5+ alts or swipe. those that "don't rush. play slow and enjoy the game" and those that play with 1 character they will never see Brelshaza. most likely not even Kakul-Saydon and Vykas.
Fuck this weeb-ass pedo game. Play WoW.
t1 and t2 destruction stones, guardian stones, leapstones, etc were not increased in the grand prix event vendor. it's the same amount as before the update. the pvp vendor gives 250 destruction stones per week. i need 475 to hone my weapon to +9. the stones from pvp vendor are not enough to even do 1 upgrade per week. if you think that these "extra materials" saved us you transcend stupidity.
the mats from the event and pvp vendor are nothing but scraps. your employer says he will pay you more money. he gives you $5 per week. this is what the "more materials" are. a fuc*ing joke. since they messed up(i don't believe they messed up. it was calculated to milk the whales) by releasing Argos so soon they should have given us the honing buff to at least do Argos stage 1 and then work for stage 2 and 3. the playerbase in t3 is not even 10%, so yeah, they should have given us the honing buff. if they hadn't released Argos i wouldn't say we need the honing buff. but now that they did we need it.
Lost Ark dropped to 390k concurrent including the bots. the "more materials" bullcrap made things worse.
clep on the twitch chat: "alts are actually pretty fun". yes. when you play them as alternative characters as the definition of alternative character and not as farmers for 1 main character. you don't even know what alt actually is. go grind some common sense dude. you absolutely need it. and the rest that have the same opinion.
i laugh when people say that alts are not mandatory when upgrade materials and gold are locked to daily and weekly content so if you don't have alts what you get is miniscule. Brelshaza needs to hone your gear with 3% rate. the audacity to say that alts are not mandatory when you need unfathomable materials to burn with 3% rate is absurd. and to reach 3% you have to pass 5-4%. assuming you pass the 10-5%. even if you are the most blind fanboy there are some things that you can't say as fact cause it's not true. alts not being mandatory is 1 of them. they are. and there are 2 legion raids after Brelshaza and hone rate will drop below 3%. how you gonna progress without alts? you can't. so cut the bullcrap that alts are not mandatory. they 100% are. in Korea they have 10+ alts. but go ahead and tell us that they're not mandatory. if you wanna delude yourself then keep it to yourself.
i also laugh at dummies that think that pheons are there to prevent bots from flipping the market. players do this crap just fine. when bots do it is bad, but when players do it is good. what??? pheons are trash and should be erased from the game.
Burnt out on the daily loop of una, chaos, gaurdians, annoying abyss runs at 1010 personally
Imagine….being such a loser piece of shit that you have to "bot a game" id probably kill myself if I was such human garbage pieces of shit.
I'm up to 1341 on my main, as T3 gets tougher I'll switch to islands/alts. I'm not trying to rush and haven't spent a cent outside of the cheap starter pack.
lost ark is horseshit, why is he playing this
Team pvp mmr please..
