I bought Elden Ring and love it as I have never played a souls game before. I will say the game doesn’t really teach you anything when you start. If My friends weren’t all playing it and if I didn’t have them to help me learn how to play the game I think I would have given up.
What Kyle's missing is that it's a lot like tarkov in the fact that the more you know about the game the easier it is and the more of an rpg it is. Learning about armor weight, dexterity, strength and how to upgrade is everything I feel like kyle is probably just running into the first bosses thinking they are supposed to be that hard instead of realizing it's a wall the game made for him to leave, explore, rank up then comeback. When I learned that's what it was in bloodborne it changed everything.
Kyle sounds like he needs to not bang his head against the wall, I’m positive if he just left alone the bosses he can’t beat in the meantime and then went back to them later he would be fine
This is the hardest Souls game Miyazaki has ever made. I've been playing the series since 2009, I've completed every game multiple times and none of them compare to Elden Rings difficulty. One of the reasons the game is much harder this time around is that there is zero guidance. You get told to follow the golden trail at the start of the game, but it's actually a trap. Because the first story boss of the game is so hard you will instantly die. Once you die you get introduced to the games Hub World and from there it is up to you to explore the world, find items, weapons and level up. This has never been done before in any Souls game. They always start you off with very simple enemies and bosses so that you can get a feel for the game. This time around they throw you into the world and you have to figure out everything yourself. I personally love this approach because the freedom it gives the player is refreshing. However, it comes with the down side of newer players being heavily punished because they have never played a Souls game before. If you don't enjoy this type of punishing combat the game is simply just not for you and that's okay.
It's pretty easy, I bet most of these people just fight Margit without leveling a bit and rage quit.
Elden Ring is soooo easy later in the game their is difficult bosses but coming from Apex as a Pred this wasn’t that bad and I’ve never played Dark Souls or Sekiro, Bloodbourne lords of the fallen. Nothing.

Oh, so he's just bad at it. I don't understand the lack of satisfaction though. It's pretty satisfying to down the boss after struggling. I havent found it any more difficult than Dark Souls was at first. People just want to be hand held through games.

The world isn't very fun to explore and trying a boss 50 times gets me very existential as well and makes me want to go outside and not feel like such a loser.

People think FROM Software games are tough but Ninja Gaiden actively goes out of its way to punish you. Doesn't even have a tutorial it just immediately throws you into the action

The thing about FromSoftware games is you need to sink hours into it to figure out the mechanics. When you do, it becomes SUPER easy.
Controller is for sure the best way to play, the camera doesn't take long to get used to.

Its just like any Dark souls, punishing in the beginning but becomes a lot easier once you gain some levels and understand how things work
Lets be real , elden ring is only as hard as you want it to be exept for bosses , you are literally one YouTube search away from becoming op from your gamestage .

I enjoy the game, and have over 60hrs in it at this point, but the amount of bugs I've had to deal with is what's slowly losing me, the matchmaking for both co-op and getting invaded is simply unfinished. the crashing, and stuttering is awful to deal with especially during boss fights. I still really like the game, and think its fantastic. I just want it to work the way it should be working.
Never had any interest in souls games, so I didn't buy Elden Ring, I have no opinions on the game besides that it's visually pleasing, and I like watching videos of streamers getting angry at it.

Idk if Kyle reads this, but try Divinity 2. It's a coop game, up to 4 players, of all turn based RPG combat. It's super in depth, but with the boys, it's a great experience.

The thing with elden ring is that, if you want you could rush through the game if you're good enough, but if you want the game to be easier you need to go do all the optional stuff to get more levels and better weapons, and if you have trouble with a boss fight, just summon another dude or npc to help you fight, but yeah perfectly understandably why he doesnt like it, it's just a rage inducing game
If you want to play a good co-op shooter try "Deep Rock Galactic"
I hate that I no longer have the time and reflexes to master hard games but I like knowing there are games that give younger gamers the same experience I got from Ninja Gaiden and the like back in the day.
