Greetings my goody-two-shoes Friends, I was thinking I should do another villain analysis video since I have only done 1 so far. This time about Judge Claude Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The very best Disney animated villain in my opinion.

Who do you guys think is the best Disney villain and why?
Another small moment:
Just before Frollo trashes Quasimodo's model of Paris, he throws Esmeralda's figure on the table…and it hits his own figure and knocks it off.
It's subtle foreshadowing to how his obsession with Esmeralda will lead to his own undoing.
Honestly Disney should make more movies with Villains like frollo since older Disney fans or even teen Disney fans may enjoy this switch in movies and it'll be like a breathe of fresh air. It's honestly disappointing they don't have villains like frollo anymore or villains at all for that matter.
IMO The most detailing part is when Quasimodo is breaking free from his chains….Notre dame, the bells begin to quake and shake…the bells ringing…..when Quasimodo releases the molten lava from the cauldron….The Molten Lava pours out of the Statues.
Now do one that focuses on the rise and fall of Master Shifu and Tai Lung’s relationship! It’s so complex and deep. Especially when it comes to the part that Po, the Dragon Warrior, eventually plays.
Just binged all your videos (BTW they are great background noise) and I have to commend you for improving so much in such a quick span of time!
I really enjoyed this video and can't wait to see what else you're gonna do next!
This is my favorite Disney movie
I think the reason why Frollo is such a good villain is that there are people like him in the real world, like there's no evil queens or shapeshifting dragons or talking power hungry lions out there
Well it really depends on the category you are looking for, all Disney villains have a characteristic that makes them the best at a specific field, like for example I think Scar is the best when it comes to treachery, since he betrayed actual blood for his own benefits, if you want a villain to be the best at representing greed, then you have people like Rourke or Clayton, a villain best representing ambition would be Ursula, a villain best representing grudges would be Captain Hook and the list can go on.

While Frollo is arguably the most evil Disney villian he is also one of the wisest and cunning ones too.
For example Frollo wasn't exactly wrong when he said to Quasimodo other people outside Notre Dame will judge him as a 'monster' and he be safer inside the cathedral. However this ends by the end of the film as everyone except Esmeralda, Phobes and the Archdeacon finally get over their fear over him and they accept him as well as showing remorse for being too quick to judge him as well as when they bullied him during the feast of fools.
And he cunningly tricked Quasimodo that he will attack Esmeralda's hideout knowing Quasimodo will warn her thus leading him there.
Quasimodo saving Esmeralda and giving her sanctuary is Notre Dame basically saying, "na-ah, not this time!"
As classic and fun as songs such as “Poor Unfortunate Souls”, “Be Prepared”, and “Gaston” are, ‘Hellfire’ is extremely underrated. Not only is it a banger but it actually develops the character of Frollo and sets up the deeper themes in the story.
Frollo Rita tally went all Margaret White from Carrie at the end of that story.
What I find hilarious is his twst version, Rollo, is actually a good person.
Mother Gothel in a way she’s pretty similar to Frollo but also very different. But what I really like is how we see how her treatment ends up affecting Rapunzel in the long term in the sequel series.
"Why Judge Claude Frollo is the Best Disney Villain"
Me, who read the og book: "[JJJ laughing meme] call me back when the man of God practising Alchemy is brought back to screen"
No, really: if you compare Judge Frollo to Archdeacon Frollo from the book, you WILL hate this movie more than the Pinocchio remake (which means: "not bad, but clearly could have done better"). I get it make it simpler for the younger audience: fine cutting some character, fine making Phoebus a decent guy, fine making Frollo the only main character to die at the end. Fine also in making it politically correct by not making Frollo the Archdeacon (let's avoid some problems with the church), even if, like this, you are ruining the social critic to the power abuse by the church people. FINE! But simplefing Frollo into a everyday villain? NO! NO! NO!!! This is a real problem with Disney's main Classic Movies: there are (basically) ONLY villains that are always evil: you never see them turning in what they are now, or having a sincere good moment, with very LITTLE exceptions (mind you: for many villains this works good: you aren't called Maleficent or Cruella because you became bad… RIGHT REMAKES!?).
In the book, Frollo is… sure, glared by the people. But because he's strange: he is a man of God, yet he studies alchemy: the magic science to find the stone that can turn lead into gold (magic, science and material possession… for the big priest of Notre Dame!?). He has a racist hate against the gipsys, yet he must suffer in silence this hatred (a patient racist priest?). Having lost both parents to the plague, he learned by rasing that failure of his brother, that he LOVES being a parent so, the day that God sends him an abbandoned deformed (gypsy) kid, instead of drowning him like the rest of the people wants, he adopts him, doesn't hide it to the people by teaching him to ignores bad critics by taking him with him whenever he went out, and, I QUOTE THE BOOK, "Quasimodo had a deep and profund love for Frollo that if he'd ever asked him to jump of the highest top of Notre Dame, he would have done it immediately without a second asking". WHERE IS THIS FROLLO!? WHERE!? Where is this Frollo that slowly turns into the monothematic villain that he is in this movie!? No, it's better if we have him being evil since the start, no one can relate in seeing a father figure in a diffrent light the more you grow up.
I understand it might be too morbid seeing how father and son become from best friends to worst enemies, and for a woman, by the way, and without a recoinciliation like in Red and Toby. But… you're already exploring dark themes like Religion, sexual abuse, abuse itself, persecutions, racism and discrimination… why not this as well, then?
They say they want to fix this in a possible remake, and I HOPE SO, this is a very interesting character, why do you need to change him into… THIS!? This is good, but is shameful you took very little of this character from the source material.
My favorite use of symbols in the movie is during Hellfire, at the beginning. Over the fireplace is a cross, representing God and Beata Maria to whom he is praying for help, yet while confessing his feelings he looks into the fire below the cross. It's almost as if he's talking to the devil and asking him for answers instead.
It's an interesting irony that a man supposedly so close to God acts in such an arrogant and self worshipping way, and perceives himself to hold the authority of God, which is a blasphemous idea. It's interesting writing. Was perhaps Father Pucci from Jojo inspired by this?
Fascinating Compelling Analysis of the Character Claude Follo from The Hunchback of Notra Dame animated Disney Movie 🍿
I myself believe that Frollo just doesn’t completely understand his job.
I love Frollo as a character. I think ppl say Frollo is most evil bc his actions are the most set in the real world. There is no sympathy to offer him. Maleficent got a movie to earn her empathy. But there is no way to do that with Frollo.
Why is he a judge , first of all? He is an archdeacon.
