Is it sad, yes, is it wrong, no. You don't want to split your player base with two games, you REALLY don't want to split your player base on YOUR own 2 games.
Better to delay the game than to pull a Titanfall 2 and dooming the game on arrival

It's a direct competitor, it's pretty clear why the delay. The real question is why Smilegate doesn't seem to care about a massive revenue push for nefarious reasons.
If New World had published on it's own original schedule, it wouldn't be in direct competition with Lost Ark.
Ever since I've read about the delay, I was convinced that New World was the reason.
I think Amazon knew exactly how much more hype around Lost Ark was due to the Twitch promotion and viewership numbers.
They have a lot of data from Twitch available to analyze. It doesnt help that New World honestly looks like it could use another year or two of development.

The bugs comment COULD be from a QA perspective. Amazon might have actually looked at the product and told devs it needs to be more polished, sure amazon isn't the ones fixing the bugs but they probably have their own QA like every other publisher does and they're the ones with the money so they get to decide what bugs do and do not get squashed,
Amazon only wants to maximize cash flow, to release two games at once decreases that so if New World fails they'll have Lost Ark can come in after it to hopefully soften the blow to their stocks. If New World does good than they'll have a second game later to come along and add to their cash flow, it's all business nothing else.
Amazon Game Studios is pure ass, plain and simple. New World is also going to die VERY fast. I can't wait for Amazon to lose $$$ on this one….probably won't be even a drop in the bucket to them, but maybe it will convince them to stay out of video game development/publishing.

I’m so disappointed in this channel with this video. This is squarely a misinformation video that panders to the Amazon hate agenda. Especially with the way you’ve framed AGS as a failed company in general.
There’s no new information being shared here and it’s pushing the “all they do is translate it” narrative which… simply isn’t true. Localization is WAY more than just “translate it”, there’s backend they do, there’s regional specific changes, there’s infrastructure, and AGS has stated they’re redoing all the voice acting as well as so many things we will never see to make the western release as smooth as possible.
Not to mention the build the west is going to get is unique, it’s not a copy paste of Russian or Korean versions.
I don’t know if you pay attention to the various community manager posts on steam or elsewhere but we’ve been told some nice things over the last while. (Big paraphrasing but the gist is AGS and smilegate are working close together, and AGS increased the total workload to give us new quality of life changes at launch)
1) SMILEGATE has a lot more power than you think. AGS requested the delay, and smilegate allowed it; AGS is a publisher, and they had a contract to keep to. It being delayed was not a one sided decision like the “new world got lost ark delayed” narrative needs it to be.
2)AGS does not do code changes. Any changes are done by smilegate, making builds a kind of ping ponging telephone game with AGS having to thoroughly test whenever a new one is given to them. As lost ark just recently got a huge number of quality of life and AGS wanted to implement some of them for the west (which was not in the original plan) they need more time to make sure the new builds with those QoL are up to the level of polish they want.
Thinking AGS delayed something they have a contractual obligation to fulfill by a specified timeframe in favor of something developed in house is ludicrous. FFXIV end walker probably had more impact on the delay than anything else going on in AGS.
New World is just a cash grab before Amazon buries it.
The reviews on Steam also feel so very much artificial.
I'm playing this on the Russian version and omg. Aaaamzing!! Pvp is amazing and so equalize. The skills and the level of fighting is amazing. Pve is awesome too! Alot of mechanics at high and if you don't do it right you can wipe your team. And let me tell you, the skills on this game makes you feel the impact, that's how refined this game is! Play the Russian version!
There is also endwalker to consider I don't think 2 new mmo's can realy compete with it even though I really want to play lost ark and new world is Meh I'm a huge fan of final fantasy 14 and all other games will take a back burner for a month or so once it comes out then I will be at the daily missions that just need to be done and then keeping up with events
New World is a dumpster fire and probably the reason for the delay of Lost Ark. I refunded the game shortly after the end of the beta because once you get into the mid to upper 20's in level you're either crafting focused or PvP focused. There really isn't much at all for the PvE player to enjoy, top that off with the game itself trying to brick my GPU? New World isn't worth it.
