  1. i used to be a midcore gamer for the longest time starting off in late heavensward. I did dabble in raiding for a good portion of shadowbringer going forward, but now in dawntrail when I wanna sit back due to life schedule changing I have realized the game doesnt have content for me anymore after doing all of eureka, bozja, island sanctuary you name it. there is no new content that sticks to me as a mid core gamer which I had back in stormblood and shadowbringer

  2. What i dislike about wuk lamat so much is just how… repetitive she is about her motivations. Constantly bringing up how she compare herself to her siblings and saying things like "my brothers are more like my father, one has his smarts, the other his battle prowess, all i have is my love for people" then later realizes "OH my love for my people is a GOOD quality!" Like no shit???

  3. I (mostly) quit because of the story and not feeling the game. Story wise I feel like there was potential at a point. They had a chance to give us new characters when Endwalker was over and they didn't. Now those same characters are still following us around and just feel like filler when we could have gotten something different. I like most of the scions but too much is too much. We at least got 1 new characterin the form of Wuk. Yikes. Aside from that the new patch story we got was hilariously bad.

Game wise it just feels boring. Variant dungeons were fun for a while but got repetitive. I didn't even want to play the spreadsheet simulator we got in the form of Island Sanctuary. For Dawntrail at least the dungeons were better than the previous expansions; they felt more challenging and were fun for the most part. I especially loved the new alliance raid Jeuno. But once those are done, they're done. And now we're left with a pretty boring and lackluster patch.

I kept holding a sliver of hope that the game would get a little better but I dunno now. Hopefully they make some fun content and pick themselves up. Only reason my sub is still up is because I'm too stubborn to lose my mansion lol. But maybe I should put those monthly payments into something else…

  4. I started playing it when it came on xbox. Heres my experience, as someone who doesnt play MMOs:

    1. I was bored to tears by most of the story. The absurd amount of filler in between story beats (which im told by a coworker was actually way worse at one point) actually made me pretty frustrated, especially in between a realm reborn and heavensward. Wasnt so bad after that, but it still irritated me.

    2. Even by new player standards, i was quite shocked how few positive interactions i had. I can count them on one hand. I even got booted by vote in a few instances because i supposedly wasn't playing the game right, which towards the end meant iwasn'tt playing the class i actually wanted because i was so fed up. I just was not having fun.

    3. Player housing is just kinda dumb. The fact that it takes so long to get the minimum 3 million, then you gotta pray you win the lottery.

    4. I did not like most of the characters. Yshtola was really the only character I liked. I didnt get to dawntrail, so i dont know how bad wuk lamat was but ive heard she sucks too.

    5. I did not feel powerful, or that i was really making a difference. The villains should have been terrified of me by the point i reached before i quit, but they werent and it kinda bugged me.

    6. I hate villains trying to be sympathetic, so emmet-selch can fuck right off.

    7. I dont mind grind, but some of the job grinding was kinda nuts.

    8. Some cutscenes just made me scratch my head.

    9. Kept getting invites from free companies. Wouldnt be an issue normally but the same dood kept sending them even after i said no thanks.

Last thing, and this is just me, but the behavior of wuk lamats voice actor on Twitter just kinda bugged me. Yoshi P's attempt at addressing also rubbed me the wrong way.

  5. I've played since ARR, and I've cleared all content in the game since those days as a hardcore player. During Endwalker, a big change occured in the difficulty of the game, especially the more hardcore content. Fights like The Omega Protocol were made artificially difficult by back-loading the fight with absurd mechanics that cause automatic wipes if failed. Typically, hardcore fights start out difficult and become easier as they progress, because a 20 minute fight is already very difficult just due to it's length.

The problem with making content difficult in this manner is that it encourages cheaters. People like myself who play legitimately without addons find this content to be challenging. Yet the community has so many people using bots to play the game for them, reveal AOEs, and do many other things, that it is downright obnoxious to play with those people. Oftentimes, they'll find a mechanic trivial because their cheats solve the situation for them almost instantly. This leads to a disparity in group performance, and it is not at all unusual for groups to dissolve during the progression of these fights.

As a person who has an increasingly busier life, it becomes harder for me to justify subjecting myself to this type of grind. The community has made it incredibly unenjoyable with their autistic attitudes, cheating, and typically childish behavior. I don't mind challenging content, but catering to the people who cheat has lead to more and more punishing encounters being created in this game that are just downright exhausting rather than fun. And before someone says "gitgud" or some other typical retard response, I've cleared all the content on this game on-patch in the last 6 years, and all of the content to date, so I'd say I'm pretty good.

  6. if they won’t change outdated gameplay and same old endgame formula since 1.0 i will just play new exp for the story (if it’s not as bad as dt) for 1-2 months and unsub till next one

  7. The game current situation is full of new stuff for raiders – Ultimate, chaotic raid and there'll be a new 4 normail/savage raid to be released next patch. Some probably enjoying alot, others that are more into midcore content is bored and playing something else.

  8. For me particularly ff14 just doesn't have the type of endgame I'm interested in. I like mmo's where another aspect of the game is raiding, farming, or crafting cool gear with special bonuses. Like Elder scrolls online. It makes me strong and it gives me a reason to do other content. Ff14 to me just feels like a single player game with mmo's aspects.

  9. I played WoW and FFXIV and I will tell you I am bored as hell with Dawntrail. I was bored before I even finished the 7.0 MSQ. Wuk Lamat is insufferable and that has nothing to do with whoever VA the character and everything to do with the way SBI made sure she was the only focus of the expansion. This is an MMO Kim Belair. It means, I, as the Warrior of Light am the central figure, BY DESIGN. Wuk Lamat is a side character because, just like Emet Selch, she, too, will go by the wayside and I continue on in the story. Squenix was infested with SBI and are now regretting it. It was lazy writing and hamfisted characterization. I'm glad YoshiP got the original writer back to writing the narrative and got rid of whoever wrote this steaming pile of Rroneek poop.

  10. The thought of logging in to replay any of the same exact dungeons I've done thousands of times over again just has me stare at my screen if I do go in, move around for a bit, and log back out. Game needs new content.

  11. Dude, this is normal. The producer himself encourages people to leave the game and play other things because he knows they will return for patches and expansions.

That said, Wuk Lamat and Dawntrail dropped the ball hard when it came to story.

  12. Grummz did not get past a realm reborn. Not sure why you're riding him, acting like he actually played the game. People have already found his character and he has not gotten the mount you get rewarded for finishing the initial story in ARR. XIV loosing players is not because of wuk lamat. Its because of the content that currently present. Stop listening to a 40 y/o gooner for your sources lmfao yall grown ass men are pathetic if you really follow this dude who dodges child support payments.

  13. It is dying. Ppl who are new and wanting to improve are not being accepted in the raiding area. Where ppl want to learn and get better. Blame the (colours and elitism for that) which mind you is ruining the game even further

  14. I'm suprised to see that FF14 even has 1 million players. I remember trying the game out a few years ago and it was incredibly boring and barren. I only played over the course of one month, but in that time I only came across 1 npc which was at the starting area, and saw only one, maybe two other players at the most running around the world.
The game may have improved since then, but the lack of content and players, combined with their confusing subscription model was enough to put me off.

That stuff is easy as hell to avoid and not do and only happens in closed areas you need to be invited into. That's not why the game is failing. Maybe actually play the game before you try talk about this again. If "nobody wants to be around it" why is it so popular?

Just another "woke is broke" bandwagon not knowing what they're talking about

  16. I been playing for at least six months. I got 7 or 8 jobs to 100 mnk being main. Enjoy the game. Been thinking of quiting the game. Reason being. The community. This community is the worst group of reddit dwelling trolls. Everyone cries and complains in r/talesfromdf, shittalk and virtue signal in the main reddit and "meme" in r/shitpost I out meme in quotations because it's all anti "grifter" memes aka shiting on anyone who is anti woke that plays the game. I play with a buddy and that's about it. I don't bother trying to meet people in this game because I can only assume they are some form of insufferable. I'm just here to play a game, not listen to your idealogy rhetoric. Wuk lamat is a shit charecter dawntrail was a shit story after endwalker and the conclusion of the first main story. Idk I'd like to stick with it. But I'm over all the trolls and drama in the community.

  17. I don't have enough in common with the community, since I'm an LGBT weeb. So now I only log in for seasonals and lottery. You can probably consider me part of the LGBT cause, I'm an ace but… Let's be honest that's like considering atheism a religion.

  18. Because both Dawn Trail and Endwalker suck ass. Shadowbringers was okay. First half of Stromblood was decent, second half was pure shite. A Realm Reborn fucking sucked, too. Heavensward is the only kino story kahntent that game has produced.

  19. I just started the trial yesterday and I'm having fun. The mechanics seem well-designed, the visual direction is great, and I'll never get to endgame anyway, so I'll enjoy it until I don't.

  20. Started plaining last quarter 2019 and sticked around until first quarter 2023. I hardly time to run a mmo and felt i should wait a while for new content. Now almost 2 years later, I doubt I'll return as most members of the fc i was in either stopped or joined another fc. This also gave me time to plan other things. Last pack i had was Endwalker I think. Maybe i'll return some day when there's enough stuff instead of going through it quickly.
