Why I'm Excited for Starfield | Churchy Reacts to Starfield Direct

I haven’t been this excited about an upcoming game in quite a while, I love a good Bethesda RPG and I’m very hopeful about Starfield, I will reserve final judgement for after I’ve played the game but Starfield Direct has me pretty excited for it and I can see a lot of modding potential!

  1. May seem small and Insignificant to most, but as a Fellow Bethesda fan im sure you’ll get it, Im curious on what the Caves/dungeons will look like. I love Oblivion but Im sure you remember how annoying the dungeons were in that game. Versus Skyrim where the caves looked a lot better and even matched the environment you found the cave in. Considering how the caves are procedurally placed, I wonder how they will look. I love caves and dungeons (Yeah there were definitely some dungeons in Oblivion I loved) so thats an element Im definitely excited to see. Also I hope Wes Johnson is in it somewhere. Im pretty sure that guy has been in every BGS game since Redguard. It would be hilarious to have an Imperial Guard mod where a UC ship would come up to you and youd get a message through your comms saying “STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM! YOUR STOLEN GOODS ARE NOW FORFEIT NOW PAY THE FINE OR SERVE YOUR SENTENCE!”

  2. Still haven't seen anything actually "new". Lots of stuff that is like Skyrim or Fallout, or like games from other companies like Star Citizen, Outer Worlds, EVE Online, Star Trek Online, Mass Effect to an unbelievably large degree and many other games. It's basically "Bethesda game with a space skin."

  3. One thing that is sadly again highlighting Bethesda's reputation for extremely poor writing and has annoyed me the more we've learnt is the following:-

"We invite you to join Constellation, humanities last space explorers…"

In a universe with thousands of uncharted planets, undocumented creatures and the ability to quickly travel via a futuristic warp like drive in the blink of an eye to somewhere completely unknown and unexplored just HOW is it that there are no other 'explorer' groups, corporations or societies in place dedicated to reaching out into the unknown? How?

Bethesda always does stupid story decisions like this, things that takes you out of the moment in such an unbelievable and irrational way… Instead of learning from history and coming up with a great story that's rooted in believability they come up with this nonsense.

The REALITY in such a world is that this would be the new Oregon Trail, the new gold rush starside with millions of people heading out into Space to find the next habitable planet, the next Earth, to make a name for themselves, settle down with a family on fertile land or simply to prey on those that do.

Instead of that we have this hokey nonsense… It's just bad writing…
