You probably know, especially if you’re from an English-speaking country, how the Western Allies felt about the Japanese. But what about the other way around? What did Japanese soldiers think about Allied soldiers? What about their opinions on Americans, in particular, given that the Japanese launched the attack that pulled the US into the war?

Stop calling people by their last names. Call them by their first names.
My great grandfather had a necklace made from Japanese teeth and parts of Japanese skulls in his hunting room lol
Will if ya mess with the best, youre gonna die a terrible death with all the rest! Don't fu@k with America.
They probably feared the Americans because of the atrocities they had committed against the others (Cannibalism, the rape of Nanking, sex slaves, the Chichi Jima incident, etc.) They had to know what was coming back to them. Not justifying the Americans, just giving perspective.
This report is total bullshit. It's a work of fiction. Shame on them for presenting this as if it were factual.. 👎
cut that into in half
Believe me, this was a savage war on BOTH sides. But the Japanese were, in general, FAR MORE savage in their war making in China and against the US and British in the Pacific. This video is really quite biased in it's presentation.
Everyone uses propaganda in warfare. During the 1991 Gulf War it was reported that Iraqi soldiers had been told that US Marines were required to murder a family member before being allowed to call themselves Marines, which tracks pretty well with what the Japanese troops were being told about Marines. And poorly disciplined troops lacking supervision will commit atrocities in warfare, especially after the enemy is sufficiently dehumanized. I think the major difference in WWII is that the Japanese troops committed war crimes as a matter of policy, not just against enemy forces but also against non-Japanese civilians they conquered. Given their own propaganda about being the heroes of East Asia, it's shocking how badly they treated the other Asian civilians they encountered, including the Chinese and Filipinos and so on.
It must have been hard for the Japanese to fight Pragmatists who just saw a problem and figured out a way to solve it, as we Americans go. No voodoo spiritualism, just, get it done. The horrors the Japanese visited upon so many during that era gives pause, but they are still a vibrant, amazing people who are good friends. It's just tough that we are all flawed human beings who can do so much better. Everyone is in one big boat at this point.
WWII can, basically, be summed up like this…
EUROPE: Conventional warfare between organized militaries in civilized lands.
PACIFIC: Ravenous animals mercilessly ripping and tearing, each going for the throat of the other, in a place where the enemy was only the beginning of one's misery.
War is hell, no matter where you find it, but I can't help but laugh at the end of the Band of Brothers series, knowing there were Army personnel in Europe, pompously talking about going to "help the Marines." It's like a bad joke, because they would've been desperate to leave the moment they got there. The Nazis might as well have been kittens in comparison to the Japanese, who were literally feral (fortunately, so were US Marines; perfect enemies).
Furthermore, Europe might as well have been a luxury hotel full of booze and pussy, when compared to the unrelenting agony of a sweltering jungle, where disease-spreading mosquitoes were eating you alive at all hours, and your chow (rice, mostly) was always full of maggots; where dysentery was a constant threat from the filthy water you drank–or heat stroke, because you had no water; where venomous snakes and spiders could be lurking under every pile of foliage, and jungle rot was of major concern; where it rained, and rained, and rained, and there was nowhere for you to seek shelter from it, only drying off when the blazing heat of a tropical sun returned to scorch you.
The two really can't be compared. It was night and day.
The horn
If only more could have been like David Bowie where as a prisoner of war in a World War II Japanese camp, he saved the life of one of his fellow captives. It is evident that Bowie never regained his weight after the war remaining skinny and undernourished looking. Later, he went back to Japan and recorded an album. He was respected. He was British.
5:52 looks like a troll face
If anyone defends anything about the Japanese during and before ww2, have them read the rape of nanking
fuck yes
"not uncommon" is as vague as it can get and if there's some yanks going about collecting ears and boiling japanese pov's skulls that word will travel far. This video picks up a certain narrative from an intellectual, leading class (the book and report writing type) after they started loosing and it's important to keep that in mind. Even if the video was based on actual surveys of Japanese soldiers during wartime and even then that would probably contain a ton of hearsay and picked up propaganda.
Look at the first month in the Ukraine and how much reporting turned up as bullcrap. bullcrap that all the popular outlets picked up upon. Look at the Russians and how radically their narrative differs from ours. And that in the information age.
So yeah I'm not saying the accounts here are all deliberately cherrypicked, just that the data is absolutely worthless.
Apart from one aspect, how much a tiny percentage can do in terms of giving the enemy a cause and legitimacy.
This video is gross and simping to horrible disgusting Japanese military while distorting all facts to do so.
1937 rape of Nanjing- talk about how japanese honor code had them murdering so many women and children that a nazi want to save people. So yes America want to stop war material.
Race portion of this video, Japan brutalized everyone they came into contact with. South koreans and Chinese were not humans to japanese. China and South Korea had ban for years on japanese goods for this reason.
Japan have still never apologized for their horrific war crimes.
Shame on you, for promoting such distorting to Japanese.
The world wants to be like America yet they hate America lol
My great uncle fought in the Pacific and in Guadalcanal
They woke up to sleep and giant they had it coming anyways the f**** rapey bastards besides no matter if they are surrendering it's hallway best to put them down cuz it's a war crime to fix surrender
I see a lot of hypocrisy in them. They call Westerner's racist and primitive and how inhuman they were, yet practiced genocide all over Asia, engaged in cannibalism, murdering of POW's, and sexual slavery of subjugated nations.
I've increasingly realized that WWII didn't have a good side and a bad side, but rather, a bad side, and a worse side.
War is Hell
