Simply not true they all had mutual respect – there's always going to be competition in anything people do – music is about expression and creating not shredding and who can play the fastest
John McVie joined the Blues Breakers in 1964 and remained through 1967, which includes Clapton's entire tenure with the John Mayall organization. It's McVie on the Beano album and everything else during that three years.. It wasn't just a couple of singles and B-sides as you imply.

Who cares. They don't. They're both legends in their own style. They're rich beyond rich. Theyre both old and still able to play. That is amazing itself, and the fact they are both still alive, considering the amount of drink, drugs and cigarettes they did.
Jeff Beck was the one who decided in his early years to take care of himself and, unfairly, he went before these two guys. Talk about unfair. And if its a pi**ing contest you want, neither Clapton or Page touched Jeff Beck's incredible playing!

Jimmy Page listened to Jeff Beck. An established fact. He copied a ton of stuff from Beck.
I do not believe this is correct. They are mates. Clapton was not a Zeppelin fan and did get an upset with Page on releasing some jam recordings. Page is a fan and friend of Clapton (and friendly respectful competitor). Maybe not the same level as teenage and lifelong friends Beck and Page.
Because Jimmy is so much better than he is?

Lead guitar players are like gun slingers especially when they are young but when you meet as old dudes you realise it was all actually mutual respect and the joy you get from the friendship is priceless,,been there .
