Why Don’t Vampires Cast Reflections? | Eric Nuzum | TED

Exploring the history and evolution of vampire lore, author Eric Nuzum traces the origins of these spooky stories, from misunderstandings of death to the sparkly pop culture icons we know today. Beyond the fangs and garlic, he digs into the deeper, everyday fears that vampires reflect. (Recorded at TEDxAsburyPark on April 20, 2024)

  1. Ted talk sucks again. I was so hoping this would have something to do with time-space and running with Einstein. Instead that lady eloquently gave what any other YouTube channel would have given if you typed Vampire in the search, even though most of those are longer, better researched, better developed and with less cringe political comments.

  2. The reflection in mirrors was supposed to be the spirit world or souls, that's why there's the myth about breaking a mirror (harming your soul) or scrying, which is staring into a mirror to 'see' that world.

Hence: Vampires don't have reflections in mirrors because they don't have souls.
