I'm under the impression this is due to what the higher ups allow. Today's Imagineers could have great non-IP ideas that get thrown out because the higher ups want rides with IPs they can sell merchandise to. Especially with competition like Universal raking it in with their Harry Potter, Simpsons, and Nintendo lands and pretty much rewriting the standard of theme parks
Yes they have lost their ability to be creative and original. They would rather tear down old rides instead of building new ones and expand their parks. That and all they seem to care about is remastering old movies into new ✨ live action ✨ films instead of being original. The few original movies they have made are just political statements that flop on their face because instead of making a movie that teaches kids important life lessons they just race swap and add random lgbt messages with no reason or depth other then pleasing people at face value. Disney is something i grew up with and loved for so long, sad to see something that was once amazing turn into a turd sandwich. But hey on the upside dreamworks pumped out a great movie (puss in boots the last wish) I wasn’t invested much into that character but i will say they did an amazing job on character creation and character development with a great lesson at the end. So ill be sticking with them from here on out, they seem to actually have artist and storytellers in their studios.
Isn’t that a good thing? It can make you feel more in touch with your favorite characters. Or at least that’s what I felt when I was in Disney World a few days ago.
Honestly, no. I don't think disney has lost their creativity. I would assume that with more new movies released, and with more new characters, guests would enjoy to see beyond the movies. Get to see more of the story. This is just my honest opinion.
This person overlooks (or is unaware) that Walt made the conscious decision to NOT use IP because if the park went bankrupt, there was the chance they would lose that IP. it's why Disneyland was names Disneyland and not Mickeyland.
Not only in the parks. Movies too. All the live action remakes coming out of older movies. It's rare to see a movie that isn't a live action remake or followed by a number
This was a shower thought I had hoping they already have it, but I think it's belles book shelf, from that scene… I dunno, it's been a while since I've watched beauty and the beast, but I'm pretty sure she loves books. They should make a huge mystical library, just for the book lovers.
Ummm, that's exactly why he opened the parks. Yes he wanted a clean safe place for kids and adults to have fun together, but he definitely wanted to promote movies and tv with the park. Day 1 attractions included Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland, and he had tv specials about the different lands.
I’d honestly like to see less of a focus of IP and more original theming/ride. I feel like Disney’s too reliant on it seeing Galaxy’s Edge and Marvel’s Campus literally being the same thing, just different IPs/font…
They lost the most happiest place on earth when they increased there prices to a ridiculous amount for what you get. They let loud mouth trash into their parks that fight with other trash also You can wait up to 3hrs to get on a ride. Your lucky to get 4 rides in one one given day. They have tons of shops and 2 places to get food that's incredibly expensive. Now they support transgender. Keep your kids.
If you look at the ratio of reboots to new movies (and think about their quality) then yes.
So like less creative rides more creative minds.😅
When you say "did not use IP" the girl on the rollercoaster nods that they infact did not use IP 😂😂😂
By 1955, disney had made 25 films and 75 shorts.
You also have to remember it's cater FOR KIDS NOT YOU WEIRDO ADULTS that's probably like to also go to parks to watch children play
I think it should be a mix of the two, have some attractions and areas based off of IPs and others off of original stuff
JE SUIS ALLER 2 FOIX
It’s because of universal studios , Disney themes every ride now even if it’s just slapping a name on it

Im just gonna leave this here
It all started with a mouse
lol isnt that the point of dIsnEy WoRlD

Are you stupid that’s because Disney has grown and it would just be a Random theme park if it weren’t for the character rides…. 😐
I remember riding dumbo as a tiny baby many years ago it’s a memory I’ll never forget! ❤
That ride scared the heck out of me
There’s so much competition now that they need to set themselves apart by Disney-ing everything. Look at all the hotels in WDW.
And Disney made a few movies based on rides, like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion to name a few.
Isn’t that a good thing? It can make you feel more in touch with your favorite characters. Or at least that’s what I felt when I was in Disney World a few days ago.
🇷🇺
Also Walt Disney was alive and was involved with every project and told them all what he wanted and how to do it
I like IP based rides.
Did you see that first part of the vid?? Ya, I was stuck on there for ten minutes and everyone was freaking out at the top of mount everest 😂
Its a ''THEME'' park. Dahhh
But when will Disney realize they are way overpriced it’s just cooperate greed I think

People wanna feel like they’re in the movie

DISNEY land
DISNEY world
universal sitting in the background glancing around nervously
And now Universal Studios learned how to better that Disney. More advance rides. Disney went with only projections. LOL
If only they didn't cancel the owl house…
its so popular they could've made it into a really big thing
"has disney lost its ab-"
"yes."
Its less about them losing creativity, more just it being more marketable to make a star wars ride, as opposed to a completely new idea
Are we gonna pretend that the old rides like the original peter pan ride or the original seven dwarves ride or the others don't exist
What is with y’all stupid conspiracy theories like oh my god 💀
You literally answered your own question
Seeing today's state of some Disney content Walt would probably even hire Jewish screenwriters at this point

Disney is putting rides themed after Disney in their theme parks?! They’re so uncreative! /s
Pirates of the Caribbean: The ride based on the movie based on the ride.
