  1. They killed the mariposa scientists and such because of the crimes against humanity they were conducting in the name of what?

The Enclave in fallout 3 had been using their tech to kill civilians, blew up liberty prime and would have continued to do untold damage to the wastes. Their only real saving grace was that they were refusing to use Eden's modified FEV. One tiny good thing that they chose. Remember that in Fallout 2 they were going to cover the globe in a modified FEV to kill any mutated human or perhaps all mutated life? Certainly humans though.

The institute was guilty of many crimes against humanity as well, replacing untold numbers of people including member of the brotherhood of steel which meant so long as it continued to exist, these synths could continue to work towards whatever goals they were given and by its destruction, those goals would theoretically cease. There was lots of tech that could be of great use indeed and who knows, maybe they could salvage some just like chunks off the mobile crawler. But remember that they also had the ability to teleport which again, in theory meant that by the destruction of the institute, they wouldn't be able to do that anymore. Those that had escaped would be stranded and those that weren't able would be trapped in the inferno. The risk wasn't deemed to be worth the reward. You can convince Maxon to space Danse though he would be considered dead. That is him accepting that not all synths are evil but they have the capacity to do evil things if they were controlled to do so which, unfortunately is an unknown variable. By the destruction of the institute, maybe Maxon could see fit to allow Danse to return even, who knows.

That said, was the act justified? Yes. They were a source of FEV, super mutants, replacing arguably innocent civilians with questionable humanoid replacements, spy networks of birds and possibly cats.

What did they do really that was really good at all? Arguably possibly giving the wasteland cats? Wiped out, been said before. Found in the FEV wing with super mutants and not really in a position to survive the wastes unaided.

The other advancements in technology could maybe be salvaged but even then, would you trust the institute to just up and share these things even with a gun to their heads? No, there would always be something else going on.

  2. I still think the BOS could’ve done more to spare some scientists and tech. They had some amazing achievements. At the very least they should’ve recruited Virgil to potentially cure super mutants that were once human

  3. Yeah the Brotherhood have always been short sighted Frat Boys in power armor even in fallout games with good writing. I have 0 moral holdups with siding with the institute wether Gen3 synths deserve rights or not is irrelevant compared to them being the only faction out there actually willing to invent and innovate.

  4. People forget the whole reason they collect tech in the first place is to KEEP IT OUT OF OTHERS HANDS. Not to innovate. Not to improve other peoples lives. So this isn't a contradiction at all.

  5. I find it so pointless what the BOS does in fo4, like u literally become the leader of the institute if u go through on there side, like idk why they just couldn’t wait, father was dying

  6. The brotherhood of steel in boston were going against their goals. The destruction of the institute was never justified much less by the examples you gave. The mariposa base had no important technology and if it did they kept all of it. The mariposa base and FEV were bioengineering an area the brotherhood has no interest in to keep for themselves as it what made super mutants on the first place. The scientist the founder maxon killed happen even before he had imagined to make the brotherhood, i think it even was a pre-war event actually. He was mad at them for experimenting on people behind their backs. Raven rock was destroyed by the lone wanderer so the brotherhood had really no choice. Not only that but it was the Lyons chapter who prioritized the safety of people over their mission. That's way they destroyed the mobile base instead of keeping. Their goals were no longer to take technology and keep it away from people. The first time you meet sarah and grab all the power armor on your way to GNR she lets you keep it because you helped her kill the super mutants. Maxon had reestablished connection with the main chapter in california and the outcast. That means that his goals were to safe keep all technology he could keep not destroy it. For some reason maxon was so mad at the institute he decided to destroy them even if it went against his goals and it only was possible trough the heavy hate and brain washing going on within the brotherhood.

  7. I know why it was destroyed, they came only for Madison li to fix Liberty Prime knowing she’d left to find the institute, but the institute was also a growing rumour for them to use as their justification of travelling to the commonwealth. The fact the institute was a real technologically advanced faction was just a useful fact as it “justified” their being there. They wanted Madison back but making the institute their enemy merely served as a public cover. They had no intention of staying once Liberty was active but still hated the institute for its superior tech.

  8. yah no 1st the BOS in no way shape or forn know were the institute are 2nd there is an insain amount of synths from gen 1 to 2 to 3 so i dont think even form a moment that pethetic bos could ever blow up the institute and 3rd is the institute could even teleport everywere and anywere on top of they can upgrade the softwere for all synths to attack the bos and paladin dance will not be able to controll him self and kill most of the bos

  9. Is a self sustainable underground city voted to upgrade human life (aside from supermutants and synths), maximize energy efficiency and improve medical and botanical research a bad thing that must be destructed?
I feel like the insitute has definitely its down sides but overall is great and it's rarely addressed

  10. Don’t forget all the information they yoinked out of the institute the first time you enter.
You know, the same information they used to find out that paladin dance was lowly synth.

  11. I don't think there's a whole lot of technology the Institute had, that the Brotherhood didn't. They already know how to grow food, and purify water. They have no interest in synth or fev technology. Teleportation is useful, but they just got a holotape of info regarding that and other things, plus maybe a molecular relay built right at the airport.

Not to mention I think their focus is more on weapons technology than other stuff, and they don't need Institute weapons.

  12. The brotherhood are ultimately conservative. They do not trust anyone but themselves to use technology responsibilly. They are not exactly interested in the progress of anyone as much as they are really waiting for some hypothetical golden age of which people can be trusted with technology.

  13. I wish the Minutemen took the instute bunker as a second base of operations

Like if they used the spy crows as a commonwealth for a better cause

Hell maybe make Minutemen gen 2 synths

And use the relay so they can truly be there in minutes

Heck they could even make the Castle a power armor depo

Hell they could kill evey super mutant raider gunner death claw and ghoul

And wall off the glowing sea with there unlimited work force of synths
