Why did France invade Mexico in 1862?

War and history, though not necessarily commendable, tend to go hand in hand. Countless military conflicts ranging from small-scale skirmishes to full-blown world wars have plagued the globe for centuries upon centuries. Because of this, we often forget or overlook quite a few interesting battles or wars that have occurred throughout these times. One of these unusual and curious conflicts was the unexpected and theatrical French invasion of Mexico.

  1. The French, as well as other europeans, saw with distrust the US. The reason for the invasion was to put a stopgap on the influence of the US. As far as the debt, it was debt that was acquired by the conservative and royalist governments. The British were only too happy to lend money at predatory rates to the struggling conservative government. The Juarez government inherited the debts and had find a way to pay for the debts. France had little to no debt, but needed an excuse to invade so made up some phantom debts. Ironically, after the end of the three year civil war with conservatives over the new Mexican constitution, Juarez and his cabinet celebrated in Veracruz by playing the French La Marseillaise. As Mexican historian Paco Taibo II said, "little did they realize that a few months later the French army would be invading".

  2. Your map makes it look like there was a different nation in the south. There wasn't. That is all the United States. There were rebels trying to take those states, but they were not a nation. Never recognized by anyone on the planet. Revisionists will try to claim the CSA was it's own nation, but they are wrong. They were no more a nation than today's sovereign citizens are a nation. Just because you call yourself a sovereign entity doesn't make it so. You need to be recognized by somebody other than yourself.

  3. Fun fact
Mexico has a legitemely heir to the throne, despite the fact that there is no more throne or crown to receive, the Vatican and the Pope recognized an heir to be the next king/emperor of Mexico, and he is a descendant from both Emperors Agustín de Iturbide and Maximilan Habsburg. (Well from his family line since he didn't had kids)
But last time he was seen he was on Croatia and the family is living in Australia.

  4. Conservative = freedom God, no government

Liberal = government control, and the enslavement of the people, degradation of morals and rejection of the word of God.

You can thank liberals for the end of the world and for the state of the world as it is today we are watching the same battle play out and modern times “nothing under the sun has never been done before. “

  5. From what i read maximillian didnt die but was pardoned by benito juarez because he was a mason as himself, maximillian was taken to south america to live out his life and would sometimes be visited by mexicans, upon his death he had one last wish to be buried in his native country which was granted by the mexican government under the table of course.

  6. It looks like the real reason france invaded mexico was to invade the united states and fight alongside the confederate army against the union. Didnt Lincoln state "jeff davis would've never fired that first shot unless he had the support of france".

  7. They disliked the Spanish. Apart from their own agenda. They wanted to prolong the development of Mexico. All they did was reap the land and didn't even use its natural resource nor their agriculture lands for profit. They just didn't want it to succeed. So I I believe it was just to hinder its growth. I'm just saying, though! Facts.

  8. You ask why well, it's because that's what the devil race did throughout history. They have the least amount of melanin. That means they have the least amount of human DNA proven by scientists. They have neanderthal DNA, so they are the most barbaric people throughout history collectively..

  9. Spain took $4 Trillion dollars in gold since 1519. And killed over 60M natives. This is why we need to teach the truth schools. No one knows the truth. And also enslaved Mestizos. Only white Spaniards had power. The Europeans brought only death and suffering.

  10. Nope. Europe invaded Mexico for a way to secretly resupply the US South in their Civil War. Cinco de Mayo put a wrinkle in that. The North caught wind of European intent and rushed to aid Mexico.

So if you're a Dixie fan and you celebrate Cinco de Mayo, you're a fool.
