In this video Fyregrass breaks down why Blue Altars are better than we thought.
This video discusses the value of red vs blue altars, why blue is superior and why blue may still not be right for you despite being better.
It also explores quant stacking and snowballing for the sake of limit testing the possibilities with Blue Altars

  1. Swapped over to Blue last night and saw two divine altars this morning lol, one was 5 divines from the boss and one was 2 percent chance from minions. Ended up only getting 1 divine from the minion altar, so I’d say the boss altar is not bad considering the rng of the minion version.

  2. A couple other things to remember:

    – Some downsides are worse for some builds. For instance, if you stack charges, blue is way worse given it has downsides with reduced X per Y charges. Big no no for my flicker strike build
    – If you’re blasting maps, EoW mobs can get annoying since they have a delayed spawn time
    – Pack size strats are probably better suited for blue since you can get a higher frequency of altars, but that doesn’t apply for wandering path trees
-On average, blue altars will net more downsides since every altar has 2 downsides if running the notable. Red only gives “1.5” given the 2x altar downside strength 50% of the time

  3. Was running blue altars anyway cuz the mods are way less annoying for my build. With venom gyre if u have ailment immunity and hits can"t be evaded claw, most blue altars mods does absolutely nothing, meanwhile searing exarch mods with phys as chaos, burning ground, meteor and minus resist can become deadly as hell real quick …

  4. Fyregrass, try running Grave Trough. Mausoleum has less density and Grave Trough also doesn't have boss altar mods until you click on the sarcophagus to spawn the boss into the map. Nice open layout in the middle as well if you want to throw breach or legion into grand design. Mausoleum = less overall altars per map. IGN: JollyGibs Keep up with the great content, love watching your stuff.

  5. Imo red = casuals who don’t play more than 1-2 hours per day. blue = people who have more time to play to really maximize the longevity of the higher currency rolls.

  6. If doing a no boss option map like mausoleum and just picking the quant option each time doesn't red make more sense for quant boosting because you get more altars?

  7. been running 95+ packsize crimson temple with boss rushing since day 4 of the league, according to mapwatch, 1231 crimsons at this point, saw 1 div altar which dropped 8 cuz it was 3/4 through the map. I guess im just that unlucky

  8. i think mods on red altars are just stupid, meteor when you use flask, life degen etc…. i wanted to test red abit today runned 20maps and i feal that i get more blue altars then red one, with blue altars my maps end up oft with over 300quant while in red altars less and you have to take chaos reward etc…. i am pure mf so for me is blue way to go, just the fact that you get so much quant is somthing i culd never drop

  9. This all makes sense but as a CI CoC build I often get free altars with no downside on red, and on blue I keep accidentally bricking maps by picking reduced CDR per power charge. Sad because I want to be running blue.

  10. One thing I will add is Searing Exarch has 3 div card rewards that just good, jewlery -> mageblood cards, hh cards , maps -> elder, shaper, cortex map cards , courupted items -> cortex, corupted MB, corupted HH cards

Though the downsides can be brutal for auto flask (chaos damage per flask + meteor)

  11. I didnt watch the entire video super closely but the searing exarch invitations sell for about 80-90 more chaos per totation. On average it takes about 24/25 maps to do a full rotation. with searing exarch you are making 9-10c per map no matter the outcome.

  12. i justify it by thinking that if a blue altar gives me just 1 divine in x maps, red altars have to equal that in chaos which still isn't guaranteed.

I've got the divine boss mod and the divine influence mob mod once each and due to bad luck the mob one was fairly late into a poorly rolled map, either way its 12 divines total from the two which is like 2400 chaos worth of red altars. I love it.

  13. Red has a pool of useful currency and drops you will never get naturally from blue. As such red sustains itself. Blue you have to buy or trade for stuff you will never drop. I got nearly 1k chisels and 200 orbs of unmaking for example farming red, and i can sell them in bulk at a higher price which people farming blue would be forced to pay. Stuff like this is why people say Red is better. On top of the fact red just spawns enemies faster. No chisels means less pack size, which means less mobs and less loot.

  14. Well? Honestly you are both missing the point and on point.

Let me tell you why i chode blue altars since league start.

Blue altar, only the first 25-50% of the map you need to clear, because you are better off opening a jew map at that point if you are doing non-expensive maps.
This is because if you havw two choices,

1-bget out and staet a new map for a chance of divine altar at map start for 20+ divinea.
2- stay for that chance for less than 10 divines.

And both choices consume the exact same time. Then you better just get out and start a new map.

Why is this good? Because it works well with sanctum rush+boss rush strats.
