  1. While I understand wanting to veer away from powercreep and the mountain of existing plot threads/rules, I feel like Araki went too nuclear on his work with hard reseting the universe.

Maybe it would have been too easy, but just shifting the perspective away from the Joestars might have sufficed. We were already doing that anyway with Part 5 being fairly disconnected from the rest of the series.

A lot of newer fans I talk to say they think reseting the whole universe was a dumb idea. Personally I lean a little bit more in that direction myself, but I see the merit in it, even if it's a little too overkill when way simpler options must have been present (start a new series, shift perspectives, go back in time in the regular universe, etc.).

  2. Honestly there are so many reasons for a universe reset. The series really had come into its own from when it was kind of an amalgamation in part 1 and still discovering itself in part 2 and 3. By the time it did discover itself there was the issue that jojos is a generational manga plotwise in that it follows new generations of joestar lineage who take the mantle. A new timeline would mean that a whole new self contained interpretation could be created with its identity well realized but also fresh for innovation previous world building didnt allow. The reason I like jojos besides the absolute nonsense it can have is the sense of identity araki gave it from a starting point which was lacking one to call its own. Early Jojos had issues where its influences where showing more than its interpretation. Especially in part one which feels like a bunch of his fav influences mashed together with a reworked version of Bram Stokers Dracula. But it became something amazing regardless of its early faults. Star platinum for example started out as a generic copy of Kenshiro from Fist of The North Star the same way that Jonathan did in terms of his rush attacks. But as the series went on more nuance was brought in to both star platinum and jotaro to make them feel more unique as individuals and respectful as homages. The limits of Star Platinum in part 4 are a good example where even tho it is a powerful stand it has blindspots that make it stand out from being a generic clone of one of mangas most iconic OP characters. These blindspots are shown however to be due to jotaro's own shortcomings and the stands potential could have avoided RATT's ability making it possible to reach the overpowered potential of its designsake if Jotaro grew enough. Araki made a series which didnt have much original going for it into one of the most unique worlds in manga in this way and a universe reset allowed him to continue improving the series without it falling into a trap other series have when they continue longer than they can afford to.

  3. Well.

0:41 Thank you for stating what made me stop at the end of season 2 : To simply throw away the kind of ki like power broke the series for me.

You see no amount of iconography is enough to make something good or great unless the product is pure iconography (like an image).
As for the ideas, they vary wildly even between season 1 and 2, as such I would not be surprised for these to change even more later on so to use these as a link feels kinda meh at best.
Even the theme changes there is only the superficial aspect of shonen like thingy. The same way you could take any other shonen so what gives ?

Season 1 and 2 sold me a world with it's own rules and power and then the author expect me to follow him in the same world where suddenly and for no apparent reason the old power disappears in favour of an other one that seems far more innate.

I am sure the animes called season 3 and further are good BUT this, this is not Jojo. This is a completely different world with completely different rules using the same name and appearances.

  4. [SPOILER]

but based on the game "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven" it says otherwise, in the final boss fight we meet Dio with his awakened stand "The World Over Heaven"
Dio said, that he was from the parallel universe where Dio side always wins and becomes so powerful he challenges parallel universe where Jojo and his lineage wins

so we can say even though part 1-6 do not connect entirely with part 7, it still happened in the same universe with altered version of Jojo history

  5. I really wish we got some sort of conclusion to all the characters though, it feels very hollow that we never see most of our characters ends or at least where theyre going
You cant make me love these characters and not at least let me say a proper good bye.
Its kinda why ive still yet to properly read anything beyond part 6 cuz it just left me feeling hollow

  6. Tbh I do kinda hate the world reset, it feels like its “Killing everyone” in a way, Giorno and the gang, Josuke and the gang, Jotaro was well…yeah and poor Polnareffu, if the next part wasnt so beloved i think it would of killed the manga

  7. While I understand all of that im still so sad because of all the interactions connections and history that was in that universe and the fact that they all died at the end of that universe in part 6 and they cant at least in some part have their happily ever after and make some good memories and stuff with the relationships they've had It just isnt the same with Irene

  8. Just done watching all JoJo's releases so far on screen. I think the concept of bloodline/birthmark etc… Is actually pretty cool and original, he should stick with that. Otherwise you would need to change the name of the show completely. Though I enjoyed s3 – 4 – 5, I miss the more raw badass design of the earilier show with prime Jonathan, Joseph and Jotaro. Characteres felt more powerfull at least with their design and philosophy. Season 3 was really weird to me as the designs felt A LOT cheaper. From there gone where the ultra jacked protagonists and it went more towards battles of smarts. Even the sheer costum design since s3, kinda weird tbh. Mixed vibe of LGBT stuff going on both from the outfits, hairstyles and actual names. I mean Anastasia… Really ? Or Josuke's outfit and haircut, all thos cute heart shaped stuff, peace logos etc… I just feel like this show feels more authentic when looking at the s1-2 designs. But yeah I am biased I like badass protagonists and badass vilians, if you are badass though, GET THAT HAIRCUT AND OUTFIT GONE PLZ MY MAN JOTSUKE, IT'S HORRIBLE. – get's punched in the face through my screen… I… I… I wanted.. I….. Argh……………………….

  9. I always saw it as 1-6 being the influence of Dio and how it tied the bloodline and the world together.

1 was how Dio came to be, how his evil started, how he first began to become powerful and his eventual but not permanent downfall

2 was the origin story of how this ever present energy, Hamon and the masks connect, the origin story of the greatest evils and goods in humanity.

Part 3 was the consequences of not fully finishing off that evil for good, and it’s eventually coming back to destroy and dominate once again

4 was to show the impact of Dio’s group on the world, it spawning powerful users across the globe who may have access to incredible powers of destruction equaling dios

5 is the culmination of that previous idea, the arrows, their origin story, and a reminder that Dio wasn’t powerful by birth, he was given that power by something else, and in turn others, even those completely connected to dio can use that power for great good, or horrible evils

And part 6 is the consequences of not tying up loose ends, not eradicating evil at every turn, at every chance. Dio had a confidant, and a plan to put forth something incredibly destructive, and that idea was never addressed at the time. Simply brushed off with the death of Dio

  10. There is only one answer. Araki is a psycho and mentally unstable. He has a hard-on for his characters and he squeaks like a pig when he sees them animated. Another reason is because he ruined his own story with adding OP super powers with insane abilities about stopping time, forwarding time, skipping time and so on, to the point of accelerating the entire universe and resetting it back to point zero and technically, it is a "yesn't" when it comes to the question of "is this reset or continuation?" and it is a bit of both. It's a new world that got reset with the only continuation of Emporio who retains all of his memories from the events of the previous, original world.
