I talk about Space Wars as shown in anime.
Strategy, Villains, Space Combat, Sci Fi Weapons, Mecha, and I kind of just go off the cuff about what I think and the opinions I have.
I hope you enjoy.
Anime talked about:
Mobile Suit Gundam
Sentou Mecha Xabungle
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Choujuu Kishin Dancouga
Space Battleship Yamato
Akai Koudan Zillion
Space Runaway Ideon
Crest of the Stars
Banner of the Stars
Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV
Starship Operators
…and more!

What do you think is the best space war in anime?
7:34 the space battles and tactics in LotGH are all based on ancient historical battles (ie Rome, Three kingdoms, etc…). They have to be 2d so people will get the reference.
The show Exo Suits does about everything you listed in this video. I highly recommend giving it ago.
man, I liked what you had to say & the recs. You should host a movie night / anime club where people coordinate to watch the same thing at the same time & get some context
My fav space war is Irresponsible Captain Taylor
where the war is more of characters then the weapons in a very odd fashion
Tylor is strange with enemies
I've been scouring the streaming sites for new and exciting space battles and military anime. Everything new and popular these days seems to be a fantasy isekai or harem fan-service. I need a new heavy hitter mecha franchise that isn't just another MS Gundam copy.
The thing about using 3D space is that it’s just not that simple. The only time when two fleets will be relatively close to each other without flying past watch other in the blink of an eye is when they are both in orbit around a gravity well, be it planetary or otherwise. The problem with 3D maneuvering in orbit is that you have to worry about what will happen as you orbit. It’s not really intuitive. For example, if you threw a ball away from earth, in about an hour and a half it would hit you in the back of the head. Increasing elevation will put you under the enemy fleet in a matter of time. The best way to go up is to increase your speed forward. It’s weird, I know.
I like my space force with one eye and in has done nothing wrong
Semicircle formation makes sense
The formation of the Yang Fleet is wider and less filled
So you need more suppressing fire to get into someone.
And they showed that the guns of ships can shoot at 45 °
Alliance ships have armor and shields thicker in the front.
While the enemies are shooting them at the front, where there is more armor and shields.
The Alliance shoots them in the side at a 45-degree angle.
Where they have weak protection and easier to get into
yo i love scifi space wars
Japan was heavily influenced by Mahan, even more than other nations they stuck with it when other nations started to see the limitations of Mahan's thinking.
And in turn that influenced manga.
I am wondering how the war in Ukraine will influence the way we think about war in the future.
In the Lensman books, there were two battle formations, a Cone, and a Cylinder. I forget which had been the traditional one (I think it was the cone), until the Lensmen developed the other strategy. The trick with theirs was that they developed specialized ships (probably drones) that merely served as defense, and also specialized other parts of the formation.
Space… the ultimate high ground!
That was a great video. You obviously put a lot of effort into the research and it showed. Good job, man.
Should be noted that a good chunk of why LoGH battles go how they do is due to insane amounts of ECM, this is mostly pointed out by the books which the anime is based on.
One of the things that makes mecha appealing is that it brings back heroic combat in the context of industrial warfare. Same kind of appeal as jet dogfighting.
𝕡𝕣𝕠𝕞𝕠𝕤𝕞
LGH has limits of communicTion and EE warfare
So too far out meant lost contact
Buuuuuuuut…..
Several groups did use this to send flanking units to break larger formations
I'm really happy to hear someone mention Crest and Banner of the Stars.
Hey I have a question! Where did you watch Space Battleship Yamato II? Everywhere I have looked online I can't find it, yet I can see a subbed version in your video. I want to watch Yamato but I want to make sure I can get my hands on all the series first before I start also is there a complete sub for Yamato III because all I could find was a fan sub with only 2 episodes completed, if you could help me that would be greatly appreciated!
AYOOOO DAIRUGGER APPRECIATION! That's a very cool video man. Motivates me to learn more about this topic.
Also the irony of using golion opening song over the DaiRugger footage…
The cross formation for attacks allows them to use the power of TWO semi-circles in three dimension!
I always use the claw formation as my default for attack craft and bombers in Homeworld.
