Because it shows a contradiction, later in the Mosaic law it is forbidden to marry Midianite, you cannot continue to elaborate on what's considered a forbidden marriage, that's obviously why Moses was in considered the high priest Aaron Mr married one of his own relatives, the same thing is done when David's a descendant of Ruth a Moabite, but in the Mosaic law it is forbidden for a Moabite to enter the house of the Lord to the 10th generation
What's ironic is in the story of Melchizedek who was allegedly some high priest, Jethro was also a priest, but Jethro deserves more recognition because he gave Moses good advice when Melchizedek didn't do anything but celebrate Lots safe return to the city of Sodom a city doomed a few chapters later, it says nothing about Jethro's family or where he came from or anything Jethro's existence is more a mystery than Melchizedeks, putting Melchizedek in the priestly line of Jesus contradict every single thing in the Mosaic law
